“Great Stay!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

We had a great stay for a night here. Our suite with the "living room" separate from the bedroom was excellent. Comfortable and clean. The staff were super friendly, kind and helpful. The continental breakfast was great and stocked with loads of options. The pool and pool area were lovely and we enjoyed a swim. I know this is probably mostly just a commuter hotel for those flying in and out of FLL or driving late and needing just a night to crash, but we felt lucky to have chosen this place because it really was quite nice and pleasant. Thanks again to the staff who were really great!

Room Tip: The suites with separate "living room" area are super nice...

Thank you so very much for such a lovely review about our Comfort Suites Airport & Cruise Port here in warm and sunny Fort Lauderdale. We appreciate your comments about our wonderful staff, our great breakfast and the lovely outdoor pool. I agree with you about our 1-bedroom suites - they are so nice and spacious. I hope you'll be back to see us soon and please tell your friends and family about us.

We stayed one night before going on our cruise. The staff were great when it came to checking in early, storing our luggage, etc...the only problem we had was that the only place we could really use the wifi was the lobby. We had to sit in the office chair by our room door to use it in our room....for almost $270 a night you would expect better amenities. The lobby was quite small and the breakfast areas was very small as well....good for a night but wouldn't want to stay longer.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the cruise port on the top floor....you can see them coming and going

I stayed here for one night prior to a flight out of the Fort Lauderdale airport. The hotel seems to have been recently updated. My room was of good size and had a decent number of electrical outlets, which is helpful for plugging in my various devices to charge.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make much use of my devices because the Internet at this hotel is so abysmally slow. I tried several different wireless access points and all were way slower than a dial-up modem. I barely was able to check-in for my flight and resorted to using the 3G data on my phone for everything else.

At this day in age, decent Internet is not unreasonable. There are other hotels in the area that have it. If you expect to use a computer while you're in town, find somewhere else to stay.

We were a family of four (2 little kids) meeting extended family in FLL pre-cruise. We arrived at FLL early afternoon all ready to start our vacation. We had booked for 2 nights pre- cruise as a buffer given the weather delays this year. Once we got our bags we called for the shuttle. Two calls and an hour later, after nearly every other group staying at every other hotel in the area was picked up, we aborted for a taxi. $14 and 10 mins later we arrived at the hotel. We really regretted bothering at all with the shuttle. Very friendly greeting by staff with an apology re shuttle when we arrived.

We had one of the double Queen suites with the living room booked because we wanted the space with the kids and room for hanging out with the extended family. The room was great, much bigger than anticipated. Decor/color choice was a little odd but we adjusted. Was good to have access to minifridge and microwave and picked up snacks and drinks at the CVS next door. We faced the highway but didn't have any real issues with noise, likely from being on a higher floor. The TV reception SUCKED. It was terrible on both TVs so the kids resorted to their ipods in the evenings. The room was clean, a/c worked fine and hotel cleaning staff were very nice and friendly.

We did use the pool both days. It was a nice area, pool was heated, and there was enough seating. Weird part is the hotel's shadow is over the pool area for most of the day though and you really could hear the traffic so it takes away from the 'sun and relaxation' i was seeking. Had lunch out at a table there one day which was nice.

Breakfast was just okay, but it was included in the stay. We are early risers so had no problem getting a table. By 7:30am, it was busy though. The lady working in the area did a great job of keeping buffet stocked and tables cleaned.

The area was good for shopping, food and close to both port and airport. We did eat at Ernie's on the recommendation of tripadvisor and staff but were not impressed - just did not feel like the right choice for a family. There's a shopping plaza with a few other suggestions such as Outback less than 10 min walk away. Just go right from hotel (towards CVS), turn right on the first side street and follow to the end for a shortcut off the main streets.

Shuttle to cruise port was a bust for us. Front desk staff told us we couldn't sign up for Sunday upon our Friday arrival. Checked Saturday morning and was told the list for sign up would go out around 2 or 2:30pm. Relative was at the front desk asking an unrelated question at 1:30 when they pulled out the list for a guest checking in who blocked off spots for a group of 17. We wanted to get to the port early so opted for 2taxi's instead which were cheaper than the shuttle anyways and was only a short ride. Took about 15 mins for them to arrive at the hotel from the time we called around 10:15am.

Overall our stay was okay. Pricing was ridiculous (i've stayed in much higher end hotels for half the price in other major cities) but I guess that's the demand in a busy cruise port area during peak season. With kids in tow i won't take chances on price bidding sites. Best part of the hotel is the friendly staff. I might or might not stay again.

Room Tip: The rooms with the added living room (2 times the size of the regular suites) are worth the extra fo...

Thank you so much for writing such a long, detailed review. Overall, it seems you enjoyed the hotel, our staff and location. I hope you mentioned the tv reception to our staff so that we can correct it. If not, please drop me an e-mail with your name and date of stay so I can make sure it is fixed - ellen@comfortfll.com. Regarding the shadow over the pool, as you know, the sun changes positions all year so there are times when the hotel's shadow does cover the area. I'm glad you chose one of our large 1-bedroom suites as they really are very comfortable for a family. I recommend them all the time. Please come back to see us again.

We stayed here the day before our cruise, in fact you can see the ships in port at a distance from the upper floors on the parking lot side. It looks like it has been recently updated and it was very clean. Greg helped check us in and was very accommodating, even though there was a slight wait due to a full house the night before, they really worked hard to get the rooms cleaned & ready. The check-in was very fast. When we got to our room, the TV was not working - they sent someone to try to fix it and they had no luck, so we were immediately moved to another room . There are a lot of restaurants that are in walking distance & a CVS right next store for any last minute items. The breakfast bar was very good, with a good variety of choices. They have a free shuttle from the airport and shuttle to the cruiseport for $6/per person.

Room Tip: Request a room on the parking lot side which is quieter.

Thanks for this nice review and for mentioning Greg and our check-in process. We do all we can to get everyone checked-in as quickly as we can. Thanks also for commenting on our cleanliness and our great breakfast. Yes, we have a terrific location with lots of restaurants and a CVS close by. I hope you'll be back to stay with us soon.

With new owners in recent years this hotel is showing improvement over its past lacklustre performance. A cheerful and efficient staff, bright new rooms and other small touches identify new and welcome changes. Close to the cruise port this is a handy venue for passengers intent on going to sea, but, for the rest of us, the infrastructure seems a little beleaguered with all the cruise ship crowd, the convention crowd, the airport crowd...you name it... frantically feeding at the trough (the breakfast room) before departure. That facility needs to be enlarged as does the lobby if the hotel wants to attract returning patrons. The mad dash for cold boiled eggs, infrequent bananas and stodgy scrambled eggs do not invite a repeat performance. As fellow travelers have noted, the internet service is spotty if available at all outside of the lobby. The pool area needs a lock on it (accessible by room key only) as non-guests were observed discreetly using the facility.

Room Tip: Away from Hwy #1 if you want to open your window

Thank you for writing this review. We appreciate your mentioning our great staff and many upgrades that we've done to the property. We have had a very busy season and our breakfast room and lobby do tend to get crowded when everyone decides to eat and/or arrive and depart around the same time. We have a company that is working on our internet access and we hope to have it much improved in the near future. Please come back to stay the next time you're in Fort Lauderdale.

Was a fine place to stay in order to catch a flight from FLL in the morning - 6 or 7 minute drive to the airport (with a gas station within a block to fill up your rental). Definitely not the neighborhood where you'll be out strolling during a weeklong stay, but certainly not unsafe. TacoBell next door. Good breakfast, nice people. My only issue, but it's a big one, was the wifi that kept cutting in and out. When I ran a test, the download speed was .15 Mbps which is … yeah. So if you're offline, this place is A1, but if you need business or personal wifi, look around.

I really appreciate you for taking time to submit a review about our property. I read you review a few times, overall the review was a good one. My concern on your review was when you mention "neighborhood ". Our propery is in a safe and protected area. We are near the Cruise Port and Airport, not to mention banks, restauraunt, malls and Cvs Pharmacy. I also wonder if you called our Guest Services about the Wifi. We have a company that provides us 24 hours service on our Wifi. I want tro thank you again for your review and stay with us. I hope when you in South Floriday you come back and visit us, because we here at Comfort Suites appreciate your stay.
