“Nice view for the money”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We stayed there at the end of March in a 1 BR suite on the 15th floor. The hotel is old. Some updates had been done to our room and it was clean. Granite countertops in the large kithen. Nice stove and fridge. Master BR was large with a nice walk-in closet. Parking is tight and the elevators are small and a little slow. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The views of the ocean were excellent from our balcony. You can see the backs of some businesses were the garbage is kept. Focus on the beach and ocean and you will be okay. The pool area is small but the beach is a short walk.

here are the reasons why i low rated this Hotel...

1. Elevators are super old/small and cant handle the volume thus taking forever to get to your floor.

2. In house restaurant changes ownership and name every six months and finally went under for good leaving the hotel with no restaurant.

3. Rooms are tired and outdated with furniture that looks like its from the early 90's.

4. Despite the pool being a "fresh water" pool it always tastes like pissy salt water which is disgusting at best.

5. Neighborhood at night isnt the best, and hotel has no security.

6. Price is high for what you get honestly.

7. In house Spa is always closed and literally is like a walk in closet with a masseuse chair.

Thank you for submitting your review of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. We are glad that you submitted your comments because this provides us with an opportunity to clarify some information to future guests who have read your review.

We are sorry that the restaurant was not open during your stay. Although the previous restaurant was sold to another company, there is a new restaurant that opened at the resort this March (2013). They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also provide room service and poolside service. Besides the resort restaurant, there are plenty of other nice restaurants within a close walking distance.

One comment that a small percentage of our previous guest share with you is in regards to the age of our condo units. In 2009, the resort completed a multi-million dollar renovation where all of the condo units received a complete remodeling. I am sorry to hear that the style and color of our furniture and condo units themselves may not be to your liking but the age of the furnishings inside the condo are not old at all.

I would like to clarify that the resort pool is not a traditional “fresh water” pool. Our pool uses salt water chlorination to keep the water clean and sanitized. Salt water chlorination can be beneficial when compared to a traditional pool. Traditionally chlorinated pools produce chloramines which are responsible skin and eye irritation caused by chlorine. Saltwater pools reduce the amount of chloramines produced by the pool thus benefiting individuals who are sensitive to chlorine. Many hotels and water parks have converted to a salt water system. Feel free to search for it online.

We are sad to hear your discontent with the surrounding neighborhood. We can assure you that the surrounding neighborhood is very safe and secure. This neighborhood is popular amongst locals and tourists. There are people around the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Also, the resort does have security on-site 7 days a week. Security guards normally work from late night to early morning. During this time, security is responsible for monitoring the entire property; inside and out. Although you may or may not physically see them, a security officer is here every day. In addition to security guards, the resort also has a security camera system.

Providing an excellent value to our guests is very important to us and I am sorry to hear that you felt the resort did not provide you with a good value for your accommodations. We actively search the internet to compare the prices at similar properties and we try to offer our accommodations at similar or lower prices. In addition to our prices, we also provide our guests with free parking and free wifi. These are two amenities that almost every other resort in central Fort Lauderdale charges a premium for. On the average, other resorts charge $25/day for parking and $15/day for wireless internet. I invite you to contact me with information regarding similar properties with a better value.

Kind Regards,

Chris Finke

We were on the 17th floor with a beautiful view of the city. I can't really say anything was bad. The two elevators are very small but the move fast and I don't feel that we were stuck waiting to long at any time. The rooms were very nice but ours content lay smelled like cigaret smoke for some reason. The kitchen was big and well stocked with utensils and cooking needs. There is no daily maid service however they did come in during the week once to empty garbage can and replace towels but did not touch beds. It is an old building and parking is tight but honestly I have no horrible complaints and would stay here again.

We wanted somewhere to stay before our Caribbean cruise - 2 couples and I was looking at hotels in the Fort Lauderdale area - these were quite expensive for beginning of Feb - so looked at tripadvisor rentals and this property was one that was suggested. Worked out about half the price of 2 rooms compared to the Hilton down the road.
It was advertised as a 2 bedroom apartment (which it was) but had 2 kitchens and bathrooms and the privacy of being able to close the adjoining door. Massive lounge and good sized balcony overlooking the sea (with some buildings inbetween !)
Location looked a bit run down with a few bars and tattoo parlours but we never had any problems when walking around.
Beach was about a 3 minute walk - on site pool was fine with bar.
Walked to most places but got taxi to cruise terminal which was arranged by front desk.
Would I stay here again ? Probably not if it was just the two of us but its perfect for couples or families.

Room Tip: Sea view on higher floor was good for us

We stayed in a room overlooking the beach! Absolutely breathtaking! The room was a little on the small side but it was fine for just my husband and I. It was wonderful to walk out of the hotel and be on our own private beach. Would definately stay here again if the opportunity arose.

We've stayed here several times in a two bedroom unit. Full kitchen, two bathrooms, balcony all for less than a hotel room. Time share condo, but you can rent directly from owners and save plenty. Redweek.com has listings of available weeks. Green space north and south of the condo with a short walk to the beach. Family joins us and we rent two two bedrooms. Great family time.

We stayed here in a timeshare apartment. We had a very comfortable week here and we appreciated having the kitchen as we prepared picnics and breakfasts. The resort is a short walk from the beach and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. We tended to eat away from the front as it was very busy there.

This resort would be good for young families. It is not one of the newest resorts but is low key and comfortable.

Room Tip: Better views the higher you go - we were on floor 10 and enjoyed sea views, shipping coming in and o...
