“Pictures were deceiving!”
Reviewed June 19, 2005

I booked our hotel through Orbitz after going to the website and checking the hotel out. We arrived a day late due to "air traffic control" isssues and both Orbitz and George, the man at the hotel, were very helpful in making sure we were not charged for the unplanned delay. The hotel was built in 1957 so upon entering you get the sensation of that era--Lobby has a pianowith grand furnishings. George was very friendly and helpful. Free and friendly valet service. After check in we went to our room--they were not at all like the pictures. The rooms are very small and not stylish and so old that they appear dirty. We were suppose to have a room with two full size beds and ended up with one full size bed and a loveseat that made out into a single bed. The floor was a marble tile that felt dirty/sticky due to the humidity. The room was livable for a few days but definately not what was pictured. Maid service did not come to the rooms until around 4:00 each day. The pool area and tiki bar are beautiful and makes the stay more enjoyable. Live music on the weekends. The deli at poolside has a great breakfast and lunch menu. Listening to people at the pool--many guests seemed to know each other and return anually and many seem to be foreigners. This hotel is a plus for the pool and beach area but could use some updates in the rooms.

We stayed at Ocean Manor during the Christmas Holidays, the place was quite elegant and clean in spite of the remodeling that was going on, it was a pleasent experience there. One of the most enjoyable places is the pool area, it is so close to the ocean that you get the feeling of being right on the beach. The staff was pleasent and courteous. What my children enjoyed most, was the delicious food and the pool area. We definitely look forward on going back there again and again.

would never ever ever stay here or recommend to someone else if it was the last place to stay on the planet. Fort lauderdale was fun, but the hotel made us miserable. did whatever we could to be out of the hotel! They were rude, never had towels, when we asked they told us to go fiind a maid, then the maids told us they didnt have any. Electricity went out , didnt fix it til the next day. Water was yellowish green. A drink in the bar is about 8 dollars per drink. Staff was rude. Elevator always broken. Threatened to kick us out of oru room because apparently we had noise complaints that they never informed us of earlier. The pictures on the website look NOTHING like what it really looks like and they don't have half the stuff they claim to have. We asked where the fitness facility was and the guy laughed and pointed to the beach. You'd be better off sleeping on the beach and living out of your car than staying here.

The WORST Hotel I have ever experienced. My three girlfriends and I stayed at the Ocean Manor for a girl's getaway weekend. We booked (and paid for) and ocean front room. We arrived late on Friday night and were given a ocean view room. When we told the front desk employee that we were supposed to have an ocean front room, he rudely told us we were lucky to be in a room at all. When we got to our room, it was flooded with a half inch of water from the overhead a/c vent. The a/c also didn't work. The room was filthy and the bathroom was absolutely gross. We called to the front desk but no answer. We went back down and they gave us keys to another room. It's a/c was also broken, the room was filthy and it didn't have a balcony so we could at least get some air in the room. The windows overlooked the garbage bins into the parking lot. So, back to the original flooded room. Front desk never sent anyone to help us haul our luggage back and forth between the two rooms. Furthermore, when we got back to the flooded room, we called and asked for someone to help us clean the water up, but they just said they didn't have anyone who could help us. We spent a half hour on our hands and knees with our bath towels sopping it up. Then, no one would bring us replacement towels so we could shower. We had to go downstairs to get a trash can to put under the leaking a/c, which leaked so much we had to empty the trash can into the bathtub periodically. Needless to say, a pretty hot, uncomfortable night of sleep. Next day, they were supposed to fix the a/c. We went to the beach mid-morning and by time we got back to the room in the late evening, it hadn't been fixed. They tried to move us to another room again, and again, no a/c and no balcony in that room either. So again, back to the original room. Again, no help from anyone at the front desk. We hadn't made much fuss yet, but by now we were pretty frustrated. We called down to the front desk and asked what they could do to make this situation right. Again, the guy at the front desk was horribly rude and told us we were lucky to be there at all. When we asked if there was a manager we could speak with about the situation, the front desk person yelled an obscenity at us and then hung up on us. They wouldn't answer phone calls from our room the rest of the night.

The other thing was how unsafe the hotel felt for women. There were lots of men loitering around, trying to pick up the female customers and prowling the hallways on all the floors. Some of the maintenance people were the worst offenders, and they had keys to the rooms, which really scared us. If you needed ice, you had to go the dark basement which had a door opened to the dumpsters, and men loitering there.

I am not a picky person. I have taken holiday in some pretty shabby hotels, but this place was just beyond filthy and totally falling down around our ears. And that wouldn't even be so bad, but combined with the sheer rudeness of the front desk personnel, it was just too much. They yelled at us, got mad at us for saying anything, hung up on us and told us we should just consider ourselves lucky to have a room at their hotel at all. Not one person ever said "we are sorry about this." After this experience, I would sleep on a park bench and feel cleaner, safer and less stressed than our stay at the Ocean Manor. Spend your money at a hotel that appreciates that you would choose them to spend your hard earned money on and understands the importance of customer service.

The lobby of the hotel is nicely decorated. The views from the ocean front rooms are gorgeous as well as the city views. The staff is very friendly and is close to stores and resturants.

I found Ocean Manor Resort Online around Feb, 2005. I was looking for a resort on the beach, that was near all of the attractions that Fort Lauderdale had to offer.
The Resorts staff was very professional. The rooms were cleaned and prepared in a timely manner, and the hotel staff was helpful with anything I needed during my stay. The staff also was able to provide good ideas for places to visit during our stay at the Manor.
One of my favorite features the hotel had to offer was the OCEAN, RIGHT OUTSIDE MY ROOM. The ocean was actually 40 yards from our room, and between the ocean and the Resort there was an increadible TIKI bar, that was open nightly and had live entertainment.
The Grand Piano pool was always clean at Ocean Manor, I swear, you could always expect it to be open, and the staff was constantly making sure it was being properly maintained.
Some other things that Ocean Manor had to offer was a resturant, and an indoor bar. The resturant had very good seafood, and the bar always seemed to have live entertainement.
The Ocean Manor was in Lauderdale by the Sea, which made it easy to walk to the various shops on the boulivard. Also, Ocean Manor was only an hour or so from MIAMI, and South Beach, which was great.
Overall I think the Ocean Manor was a great Resort and is a good value for what you are getting when you visit the resort. A great ocean view, excellent staff and entertainement, and a good value, How can you go wrong.

I`ve stayed at Ocean Manor, THREE TIMES. My first stay there was very enjoyable. The people at the front desk, namely George, Julie and another guy( I forgot his name) were quite helpful in pointing out areas of interest to me and my friends and went out of their way to make sure our accomodations were taken care of. Upon arriving to Ocean Manor (the third time) I was surprised to see that George remembered my name.
Whenever I make to Ft. Lauderdale (2-3 times a year), Ocean Manor is always my hotel of choice for it`s great service, great location, beautiful beach and and deluxe rooms. I`ll continue to frequent there and pass it on to my friends!!
