“Great Pre-Cruise Hotel!”
Reviewed June 21, 2010

We had stayed at the Lugano Hotel for one night before leaving on a cruise out of Port Everglades. This is a really nice hotel. There is not much to do in the immediate area so am not sure if this would be a great choice if you were going to be in Ft. Lauderdale for very long. The taxi rides to the beach, restaurant's, etc, might start to get expensive. We had both an intracoastal room and an ocean view room. Both were quite large with great view's. The bathroom's were a nice size with plenty of amenities. Lot's of extra towel's and washcloth's. There is a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator, coffee maker, dishes, utensil's, etc. There is also a studio size washer/dryer with one complimentary detergent/fabric softener provided. We all agreed that the bed's were very comfortable with extra pillow's provided.
There is a great restaurant/bar with-in walking distance of the hotel called Shooter's. It came highly recommended by one of the guy's working the valet. There was a live band playing the night we were there and you could sit either indoor's or outside overlooking the waterway. The portion's were huge and the food and drink's were very good. So glad we decided to eat here instead of taking a cab back down to Las Olas Blvd.
Overall this is a very nice hotel, with everyone we encountered at this hotel to be extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend the Lugano to anyone traveling to Ft. Lauderdale wanting to stay in a more high end hotel.

We (hubby, I and our 3 year old daughter) went to Fort Lauderdale for a long weekend (4 days). Our connector flight from Buffalo through Atlanta was delayed and then the connection from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale was delayed as well due to weather so we arrived at 3:30am! The check in at the hotel was superb!!! We had valet service (much needed at this time!) and front desk staff warmly greeted us and upgraded our room (to our surprise!). The room was perfect (king with oceanview and balcony)...large room with kitchenette (very modern and spacious), huge closet space and the in room laundry facilities was a huge plus!! It was nice going home with clean clothes!! The daily room service was good and the hotel was spacious and the staff were friendly (opened doors and greeted us in the lobby). Check out was quick too. If we to go back to Ft. Lauderdale, we'd stay here again!! Great for kids and adults!!

An excellent hotel in all ways measurable. This hotel is a great value with good location, excellent service and large well appointed rooms. They provide all the necessary amenities, that are all of high quality, and service that would be excellent at any hotel of any rating. Two thumbs up

I booked this hotel to spend the weekend with my family in Fort Lauderdale, hoping to have a great time with family, but it was not what happened.
Arriving at the hotel, check-in was informed that my reservation made by hotels.com for three rooms appeared only two rooms.
After much conversation with the reception and the hotel manager, said it would be alright but the room would only be available after 4 pm.
Me and my family went around town and returned at 11:40 pm when we were informed that they had only 2 rooms available and that two people of my family had to sleep in another hotel which they provided.
Was very unpleasant to have two people in the family in another hotel when everything you planned to stay together.
I do not wish the same for anyone so do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.
The hotel manager is very unpleasant and not treat us with respect, it seemed that we were staying at the hotel without paying.
At some point in our conversation, seeing that we were not accepting two people go to another hotel, called hotel security to be by our side following the conversation.
We were treated without respect, as if they were guests.
Next time, we will stay at the Hilton Marina (Fort Lauderdale) where we were very well attended every time.

This hotel was really great. The lobby had a nice bar area and I can't say enough about
Patti the concierge. She booked 3 good restaurants for us, of which one was right in the hotel. The location was in walking distance to the beach but not much else around except a great shoe store ladies!!! The rooms had a kitchenette with a large refrigerator. We had a balcony with a view of the ocean.

We stayed at another local hotel, Ocean Sky Resort, and were disappointed. So, we got the same rate at the Il Lugano and decided to give it a try. This will be my hotel of choice on our next visit to Fort Lauderdale. For the same rate as the other hotel, $75/night, it was 100x better! If this is not a 5 STAR Hotel, it should be. All the staff was warm and friendly from the time we arrived until our departure. The room was beautiful, the bed and comforter felt like heaven! The balcony is huge with two large sliders and we were on the 9th floor where the intercoastal view was breathtaking at sunset. We stayed on the balcony more than in the room and I was able to crank the music since it had an iPod with Bose dock station! Every single member of the staff was very friendly and helpful from the valet upon arrival to the front desk upon check out. The room was very modern and exceptionally clean and spacious. I know the pool is small and not much sun offered, but we had enough sun the first two days of our stay being on the beach, so that did not matter to us. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but we were fine with not being downtown near Las Olas boulevard. When we wanted to go there, we took a LONG walk or taxi to see the sights. I just can't say enough good things about this hotel.

Stayed at this this hotel for one week. The hotel is newer and was very clean. Rooms were a good size. Bed was very comfortable. Pool area is very small but when I did use the pool there were never more than 10 people at the pool. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with children. The couple next door was having sex on the patio and playing loud music at 4 am. I did call the front desk and security came to room immediately and the music stopped right away. There was also a women flashing her bottom at the pool to her boyfriend. Definitely not a family friendly atomsphere. Everyone except the concierge was very friendly and helpful. The concierge kept telling everyone how great she was but I did not think she was as helpful at many other hotel concierges that I have worked with. If you can get this hotel at a good price grab it. It is not on the ocean but the week we were there it was too windy to sit on beach.
