We found a great rate for a 4 day mini vacation with our college age son. Had a beautiful suite on top floor. Room awesome. Great bed, ok sleeper sofa, 2 large LCD tvs with satellite HD. Washer/Dryer in room was a great feature. We walked about 2.5 blocks to beach a couple of times and it was great to wash swim suites and have them clean and dry for next day. We, like many reviewers, chose to meter park out in front for $.50 per hour from 8am to 6pm, free at nite, rather than pay costly valet parking. That worked fine for us. The free breakfast that came with our stay was only ok. Don't understand why they put the buffet right under air conditioning vents. Eggs and sausages were cold even though in a steam tray. We were looking for laid back stay and didn't bring dressy cloths... but the restaurant i the evening seemed packed out with happy customers... I assume it may be very good.
One suggestion: We had a really great dinner at a small gem: Serafina Waterfront Bistro is a very small, unassuming Italian gem at the corner of Sunrise and the Intracoastal, about 5 minutes by car from Il Lugano. We had an awesome meal with very personal service. Don't let the walk up the the restaurant scare you away... it's pretty and nice in side and on the deck at the back surrounded by boats. The high point of our trip.
Also, the beach 2 blocks away was great. We also went a mile or so south to the area where you can park along A1A... and the beach was even a bit nicer. Water warm, clean, awesome.
Il Lugano's pool, as reported by other reviewers, is sort of a bad surprise. It's in the shade virtually all day. Cabanas on the intracoastal are free and sunny most of the afternoon.
Hotel is quiet, seems small, boutique-like.
Wanted to give a helpful review, so shared a few minus's... but overall, we'd go back in a minute, at least at the good rate we were able to get on this beautiful property.
