“Best Lunch Spot in Ft. Lauderdale”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We ended up at Coconuts based on a recommendation one afternoon during our stay over 4th of July weekend. We sat outside on the water and the place was packed for the entire 3 hours that we were there. Although it was raining they had a nice covered and fan misted area to stay cool. We started with scoobies (crab claws in evoo and herbs) and smoked fish dip. Both were great! While we waited for our friends I had a bloody mary, which was good but turned to all water about halfway down (too much ice?). Hubby had the crab cake BLT and he said it was delicious. I ordered a salad special of the day with arugula, watermelon and grilled shrimp (would highly recommend). Our server was good for the most part (was hard to track down after a while probably because they were so busy). Two days later we returned again for another long lunch since we knew we couldn't go wrong. The people there are very friendly and it is a casual laid-back atmosphere. The fish tacos were delicious and the comfort bowl (crazy mac and cheese with choice of sausage or chicken) was perfect. I honestly do not think you could go wrong with anything on their menu and the prices are reasonable for the area. With a drink and 2 entrees you can have lunch for around $50 - $60. We are pretty picky eaters and do not eat out much because it is usually a waste of money but I feel that this place is a gem and can't wait to return!

“Great Florida Restaurant”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Right on the Intracoastal. Good boat watching. Perfect South Florida ambience. Food and service are both great. Be sure to try the coconut shrimp and the crab-claw appetizers. The comfort bowls (pasta with chicken, sausage or lobster) are also great. Every salad we've ever had was really good, too. We live in the Ft. Lauderdale area and every time we have guests we go to Coconuts for both good food and a South Florida experience. No one has ever been disappointed.

“Dining on the water”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Living here in ft laud we are always looking to dine on the water. There are very few places where the food and atmosphere are great, Coconuts is no exception. The lobster salad I ordered was the right portion and very tasty but the lobster was way over cooked. The service however was great and so was sitting by the water. Ok I guess....

“Great Service, good selection of drinks, food was a near-hit”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

I would go back... but keep in mind the seafood they serve isn't for the most part on the Monterey Bay Aquarium's "best choice" list - so if you care about the oceans - probably best to stick with land-based food and drink. Nice to watch the boats pull up to the dock, but you have to be prepared for the heat of florida - although they've done a nice job with misters and shade. There is a large inside A/C area.

They DO allow smoking - so if you want to avoid smoking places, you might need to pick another place. I was going to complain, but we were finished anyway... not sure if I had complained if they would have enforced a non-smoke policy. I did notice that no tables had ash trays, so this may be something they just overlook unless someone complains.

“Pretty good seafood and wines”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

This is a secluded little spot that probably has a large local following. The oysters were good and the wine selection was good too. Service was good and atmosphere, just a bit pricey for what you get unless you go during happy hour for 1/2 priced apps.
