We had lunch here while in Ft. Lauderdale... we were looking for a casual waterside restaurant where we could get some good seafood. Coconuts mostly didn't disappoint. We sat at a table on the patio, and our server was average. She refilled our drinks regularly and brought us what we asked for, but she wasn't really very personable or engaging. We had the coconut shrimp for an appetizer, and my husband liked it so much that we ordered a second portion to share. The dipping sauce was the best- not the usual sickeningly sweet sauce you usually get with coconut shrimp. The shrimp themselves were huge and crispy. After the appetizer, I was very excited for our entrees! However, my fish tacos were disappointing. There was a layer of grease on the fish that make the whole thing soggy and unappetizing. They just weren't good. However, my husband loved his blackened Mahi sandwich and said it was exactly what he wanted in a fish sandwich. So there you go... if we are in Ft. Lauderdale for lunch again, we would most likely come back to Coconuts, but I would certainly try something besides the fish tacos.
