“Best Latin American Food in Fort Lauderdale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2009

We are locals here in Fort Lauderdale and even though there are a lot of good restaurants, the prices are very high for people who eat out a lot. But we stumbled on El Tarmarindo Cafe and have been very pleased.
We have eaten here twice and will be returning for our third visit tomorrow night, taking guest with us. Great food, friendly waiters, comforatable dinning area. Only thing about it is that it is so far away from where we are on Fort Lauerdale Beach, but well worth the drive.
On our first visit we had the skirt steak, very good. Great flan as dessert. On the second visit we had the seafood paella which was also good, but my favorite still remains as the steak. The red beans and rice are delicious. And the Sangria is the best I have had in South Florida.
The wierd thing about Fort Lauderdale is that we do not have any great Cuban restuarants. We use to go to Mario's, but since they moved to Federal, the food and service have suffered and the prices have increased.
Although El Tararindo is more Central and South American than Cuban, it does a good job filling the gap.
Hope they can sitck around.

“Can't get enough Tamarindo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2009

Me and my friend Odette have visied Tamarindo at least 20 times and the food and service has always been excellent. The manager/owner is always there and works hard to make sure things run right..Great hospitality... It is by far one the best Latin American restaurants in the South Florida area. Great food, great service, great prices. You can't go wrong!!!

“Tamarindo is Tops in Ft Lauderdale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2009

This is one of if not the best Latin Restaurant in Broward County. I am lucky enough to work very close to this restaurant so it is in heavy rotation as a lunch option. The menu is simple but extensive at the same time. It is kind of weird b/c there are true salvadorian staples on the menu, like pupusas (pork or cheese) as well as other typical latin dishes -- Churasco, Mariscados -- There is always a soup of the day ( which are awesome ) the beef and seafood soups are to die for... I also love the fact that they serve red beans (colorados) instead of cuban style black beans. I love both red and black beans but these red beans are a welcome break from the norm here in So FLA. The quality and quantity of food this restaurant serves up can't be beat. If you are in Ft Lauderdale and want to try an authentic Latin restaurant try and find El Tamarindo Cafe. It will be well worth it.

One other point that shouldn't be overlooked is that this restaurant serves dinner until midnight. After a night on the town you could eat at Lester's (across the street) or have a meal that will really stick to your ribs.

I will also say that the owners and staff show pride in this establishment. I have been eating here from the opening ( pre Sun-Sentinel review ) and the service hasn't slipped a bit. The decor and inside of the restaurant have actually been upgraded over the years. It is nice to see that the owner's have turned this restaurant into something special by serving great food at a great price in a nice clean environment.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

“Best Kept Secret In Lauderdale (Cheap and Good!)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2009

Over the past 3 years, I've been here many times because the food is exceptional and exceptionally cheap! (Almost everything is under $15)

In fact, my last dinner date was a yacht chef who couldn't stop raving about the food.

It looks like an old hamburger stand from the outside, but it's quite classy inside with a romantic decor, tablecloths and linen napkins.

Skip the Las Olas ripoffs and get yourself here for a meal you will remember long after you go home.

This is a classic Zagat's example of maximum points with minimum dollars!

“Love it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2008

I love this restaurant! They have the best service and churrasco steaks in Broward! When you first sit at a table, someone immediately brings you bread, chimichuri sauce, and water. The waitresses are helpful and explain the dishes if you're confused (the menu is written in Spanish with English subtitles.. fun!) I tried the churrasco steak and it was delicious! The portions are abundant and the prices are affordable... I would reccomend this place
