“Good but potentially great”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

First the negatives: On arrival we were met by the duty manager and informed that we would have to move rooms after 1 night due to a booking mix-up on their part. While inconvenient, he offered us breakfast vouchers for our entire trip which was a nice gesture. However, the room we were then led to, while being spacious and modern, had not been cleaned properly and it took another half day of negotiation to finally keep the original room we were in and have it cleaned properly. The hotel is in an excellent location opposite a lovely stretch of beach and the building is modern, stylish and well appointed. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, the pool area is very nice and the staff are all extremely professional and friendly. This is a great 'big chain' hotel and very well run in the best part of Fort Lauderdale.

Spent two nights here pre-cruise at the end of March. Had a one bed King apt on the 22nd floor and a sofa bed for the kids to share. They aren't little anymore so that was maybe the only drawback. But not really the hotels fault. Nice size kitchen, lounge area and massive bathroom.
The whole apt was huge and we had 270 degree sweeping views to the beach around the outside balcony as well as a seperate balcony off the bedroom which had ocean views.
The pool was fantastic and we also enjoyed the restaurant and bar. Although quite small it wasn't too busy. Really enjoyed the hotel and the service was great all round.
We didn't have a car so no issues with parking but there was lots of valets always around if needed.
The only downside perhaps was that you are a long way from other restaurants and they get busy. I would say a 15 - 20 minute walk to the busier part of town. But taxi's are all over if needed.
The beach along the front is lovely and very clean and tidy and also very easy to get to. Overall i would really recommend this hotel and i found it good value if you want something that has a little quality about it.
Breakfast was ok.......but being quite far to walk anywhere else we were quite happy overall. There is always a Starbucks below if you want to save.

Room Tip: The higher the better i would say.

Beautiful views from ocean front rooms. Spacious. Love we can get a room with 2 bathrooms. Great location. Rooms are always clean. Staff is always friendly. Short walk to dining and bars. Great beach across the street. Nice pool area at hotel.

Room Tip: Get the full oceanfront room, well worth it.

Actually used points to stay here for 6 nights back in March. Check in process was very easy. Room was great - nice size bathroom too. Everyone there was very courteous. The pool is nice but its frustrating that people reserve lounge chairs early in the morning and then don't show up for hours to use them - I think that the hotel staff should only allow you to reserve lounge chairs if you will be using them right away.
Location is great, able to walk or hop on the local free trolley to get most everywhere we wanted to go. Would definitely go back, but maybe not during prime "spring break" time

I have stayed here twice, both on vacation. We opted for a high floor room, which gives you a view of mainly sea and sky - stunning, breathtaking and so relaxing.

Breakfast was great and although we didn't eat other meals in the hotel, I head the other restaurants are good.

If you are patient with the staff and don't shout like so many people did, you get respect and exactly what you need - not that I had to ask for much.

The valet parking staff were always happy to make recommendations and were very charming.

I cannot wait to go back again.

Room Tip: Ask to be on as higher floor you can

This is a great hotel if you can get a balcony facing the southside. That is where the sun will be. Be preapred to tip a lot! You can't get a bag of groceries up to the room without the bell boys running up. No way of handling you own luggage. Shops and food within walking distance and beach across the road. Only draw backs were the fact you need to take the elevator from pool floor six to access the beach and the elevators go from fast to turtle speed depending on crowds. Should be a stair case access to beach from pool floor.

Expensive for rooms, but most good hotels on beach side are!!

Staff was very good.

Room Tip: Southside balcony if you want any sun!!

Don't get me wrong it is a great place to stay in, but for the money ($399 a night) we have a right to be picky. Room took a long time to be ready, lots of small room maintenance issues that we just tried to ignore( bathroom door lock is not working, closet door is hanging with one hinge's screws are falling out, etc, electric stove showing error message). Did really get upgraded (HHonors gold), but understandable resort was close to full. Personal is very friendly. $35 parking in my opinion is a highway robbery (sorry we are not in Manhattan). Restaurant is decent, but also overpriced.
Final thoughts - overall our stay was pretty good, but for a total of close to $3000 a week I think there are lots of choices out there
