Came here with my husband and parents to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant decor and ambiance was good - we were seated at a “round booth”. We arrived at 6 pm and asked the hostess if we could have an entire dinner service in 1 hours
Time, she replied yes.

I communicated to the waitress about our time
Constraint when she was delivering our drinks. Instead of taking our order at this time, she walked away and did not return for 10-15 minutes to take our orders despite us being ready to order when she delivered the drinks.

After ordering, It took a long time to receive our salads, we had been at the restaurant now 30-40 minutes, when the host advised we should be able to have a full Meal within an hour.

My husband ordered a New York strip,
Temperature: medium. It was bloody rare. Despite him cutting and eating off of it they put the same piece of meat on their grill and then returned to him a plate that was completely black with extremely well done meat.

We waited as long as we could for the waitress
To return we had to seek help from others in the establishment to receive boxes to box up our left overs. We brought my husbands food home for our dog.

I communicated this concern fo which appeared to be management they said they would be taking my husbands steak off the bill, but they only took half if it off.

Overall, the cuts of meats were good. The creamed spinach was excellent. However the meats and mushrooms did not have much if any flavor.

I’m disappointed and rating 1 star because my husband did not receive a meal to eat. When everyone else was eating, he had no food in front of him. The restaurant did not offer him a meal to go or to remake his sides. Also conceded about the cleanliness of this establishment- they put a steak back on the grill my husband had eaten off of rather than giving him a new cut.

Ultimately we were late for a 8 pm show because of the errors described above.

See image of “medium steak” on disgustingly black plate.

When we called to make the reservation, the person who answered suggested there would be plenty of room in the lounge for us to receive happy hour drinks and appetizer specials. The lounge was full when we arrived and the host would not extend the same specials at the dining table.

Compared to Charleys, Ruth’s Chris, & Fleming’s I will not be brining my family back to this establishment.

Courtney, we are so sorry we didn't show you a better birthday celebration this time. We could have done a better job setting expectations, and we regret that we didn't. On the other hand, we can assure you that we take food safety seriously and are up to code on everything health-related. Still, we would like to discuss your dining experience more and follow up, so please contact me at Michael@tropicalacres.com at your earliest convenience.

I've ordered Prime Rib all over the USA. It's my favorite. Tonight's King Cut makes the top ten, and that is saying a LOT. It rates high up there with entrees from Chicago, Omaha and DesMoines, Iowa. The best in South Florida.

You will notice the sign for Tropical Acres as you drive up the US1 near the airport to downtown Fort Lauderdale and think it might be a golf club or retirement community but you would be missing out if you did not follow the sign down Old Griffin Road and dine at Tropical Acres.

Plenty of parking in the lot or there’s valet if you so wish, arrived with no reservation which was not a problem and seated straight away as it’s a big restaurant. The bread basket arrived full of irresistible warms treats, just delicious and with butter too along with some waters.

Entrees come with a salad wedge or caesar so shared the coconut shrimp appetizer, perfectly fried shrimp with a wonderful light coconut coating, really amazing.

My NY strip steak was cooked just as requested medium rare and melt in the mouth as was the 10oz prime rib, excellent meat , perfectly tender and every mouthful a delight. My steak came with fries and an order of creamed spinach, the baked potato came with sour cream and bacon to ensure it was fully loaded , everything was great and at a very reasonable price too. Wine was moderately priced, a cab sauv @$28 was fruity and went down well.

Service from Laura and Ce Ce ( I think) was super, very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Sadly no room for the desert chariot !! it all looked good , perhaps next time. A truly wonderful dining experience not to be missed if you enjoy good steak. Also there happy hour/ early bird deals looked great value too.
