Seven of us stayed here one night pre-cruise on January 6, 2013. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale at 11:30pm and waited about 40 minutes for the airport shuttle. However, I must mention traffic was very busy. We arrived in our room around 1am. The only thing good I can say about the rooms is they have clean sheets and a bed to sleep in. The only perk here is that they offer free airport shuttle and cruise port shuttle. I woke my kids up early just to get out of the smelly rooms and go down to their free continental breakfast which consisted of bread, bagels and cereal….nothing else! This is a very old, dated, run down, smelly hotel and it’s not walking distance to anything. We won’t stay here again!
Stayed here one night before a cruise - it was pretty cheap, close to the cruise port, and offered a free shuttle to the ship. We arrived just at the same time as a whole group of cruisers that were together, which unfortunately delayed our check in big time.
The shuttle to the ship is free - but they also do a hard sell on the return transportation (ship to airport), which we declined. We got ourselves scheduled on a reasonably early shuttle and made our way to the room. The place is outdated for sure - it was pretty hot and humid outside, and the AC could barely keep the room cool. Everything worked in the room, but the room wasn't the cleanest looking. There was one restaurant that we could walk to (very good actually), but due to the location and highways, walking to anything else would involve running across a 4 lane highway.
The 'free' breakfast offered was horrendous - they basically offer free coffee, toast, and some disgusting flavorless orange slices....or you can pay an extra few bucks and get some eggs and sausage. The room was packed and they were pushing for tips as well - we had our free coffee and got the heck out of there. Thank goodness for some granola bars brought from home!
Our friends stayed across the highway at the Rodeway Inn, and said it was actually pretty decent - might be a better option for those looking at their pre-cruise options.
As an avid reader of reviews on Tripadvisor you might well ask why on earth would we stay in this hotel ? We decided to because it is within walking distance of a marina where we are getting our sailboat ready for this winters cruise . On arrival the room was better than we had expected and also very clean . The trouble was that the people next door had decided to party all night so no sleep was possible till 3 am ! The next morning we requested to be moved to another room which was not facing the courtyard but looking over the road instead . This proved to be much better but not entirely silent either due to road noise from the I 95 as well as aircraft landing on the nearby airport . To be honest the staff were always helpful and polite and the room had all the facilities we needed and for the price we paid we knew it was not going to be the Ritz .
