“The Perfect Vaction Get Away in Fort Lauderdale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

This guesthouse is a rare find and quite a gem! The rooms are designed in a modern, classic comfort that is a home away from home. Walt is the owner and manager on hand to make sure that you have everything you need for your stay and is friendly and helpful if you aren't familiar with the neighborhood. The neighborhood is the best that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. 15 FTL is centrally located less than a mile from the Galleria, walking distance to Chill Wine Bar, and The Canyon Cafe. A short drive will take you to the Naked Grape and Wilton Manors with great restaurants and shops. The grounds and pool at 15 FTL are extremely clean and kept well. Even when it is full you have the place to yourself. Breakfast each morning is an array of fresh coffee, muffins, yogurt, and your pick of too many things to mention. The rates are unbelievable and far too inexpensive for what you experience. The rooms are equipped with mini fridges, glass wine glasses (which is much appreciated), and wine buckets. A great escape from Key West or for now a hidden secret for seasoned travelers who are lucky enough to find 15 FTL.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

Nicole, Thank you for the nice review of 15 FTL Hotel and staff. It's always nice to have guests like your self stay with us.The property two and half years a go went from being an exclusive gay male only guesthouse to it's current operation as an "All Welcome Adult Hotel" (no children) by the new owners. As in a few past negative reviews not all prior guests of the property like the changes. We however love meeting the many new guests from around the world who are drawn to our lovely property. We are glad you continue to enjoy 15 FTL Hotel and look forward to your next visit with us. Regards, Owner and Staff.

It was our first trip to the USA and we intended to stay in Miami, but few friends advised us to stay near by Miami as we would like to be in a more quiet and beautiful environment... We decided to stay in Fortlauderdade, which was 40 min drive from Miami. I did not have any recommendation on Hotels in Fortlauderdade so I just picked by location and read few positive reviews.

Walter, the manager of the FTL 15, was so helpful, even before we get there! I asked if I could receive a package before my arrival and he promptly replied with a positive answer and also was free of charge (some hotels do charge you if you receive packages before our arrival, per day! Keep your eyes open!)

He helped us getting around in FortLauderdade (which was our second great surprise, it´s a BEAUTIFUL place, we loved it!), the location of the FTL 15 is the best possible in my opinion (it´s a quiet area but still, 2 blocks from AllGreens pharmacy, Great Supermarket, wine store, 5 min by car from the beach, 5 min by car from Las Olas Boulevard, 15 min by car from the big Outlet Sawgrass Mills, and 40 min from Miami... ) for us was perfect, after 5 days in Fortlauderdale we visited Miami for a full day and for our surprise we did not like that much Miami.... my husband and I were so happy that we choosed to stay in FortLauderdae...we could not wait to go back... :)

Other nice surprises at the Hotel:
Swimmpool available, clean, warm...
The hotel provided everyday beach towels, beach chairs, parasol, even sun-block lotion... (free of charge)
Laundry (free of charge)
Breakfast - For my husband and I was perfect, had everything we needed, coffee, milk, juice, fresch fruit, yougurt, cereal and few pastry.

Our room was exacly as in the picture, clean, and nice, everything working, A/C, microwave, small fridge, ventilator, shower, TV, wi-fi...

If one day I will be back in Florida, I will definetely stay at the same hotel, hope they have a free room for us (is not a huge hotel).

Thank you Walter for your excelent service and your willing of help us around! We truly wish to be back some day!

Outras surpresas positivas no Hotel:
Piscina, limpa, morninha, ficava nela a noite

Thank you for such a nice review and taking the time to let others know about our small slice of sun shine here in Ft. Lauderdale. It's been an incredible busy Summer for us and we've enjoyed meeting so many people from such far destinations. We knew this property had great potential to be people's home away from home for them and with such a diverse people staying with us it's truly a pleasure to come to work each day. You were a joy to have stay with us and we all look forward to your next visit with us. Regards, The Staff of 15 FTL Hotel/Guesthouse

My partner and I spent a weekend in Ft. Lauderdale this past June and chose 15 FTL based on the great reviews here on Tripadvisor. This property not only lived up to, but exceeded our expectations once we arrived. We had a 3 hour flight delay from North Carolina which pushed our arrival until after midnight. Property management had no problem accomodating our (very) late check in - which brings me to my main point. Walt, the property manager, was by far the best host I have ever had in my years of travel. At breakfast the morning after our check-in, Walt introduced himself to us by bringing us a local magazine with info on what to do in the area. We had a very extensive conversation about the property and things to do in the Lauderdale area and immediately knew we had made the right decision.

The guesthouse itself is very charming. It is a small property with a beautiful courtyard and pool area. The location in Victoria Park can't be beat. It is just south of Sunrise Blvd. You are close enough to restaurants, bars, and the beach area that all of them are within a few minutes drive. My partner and I wanted to stay near the Wilton Manors area and 15 FTL was perfect for that. We were very lucky that the property was not that full (being June and all), so we rarely saw anyone else. We loved the idea of being able to go out and eat, drink, etc., but then come back to such a peaceful setting. Continental breakfast by the pool was great as well.

I can think of absolutely no faults. In a nutshell, if you are looking for an inviting place to stay with a great location and wonderful host, you should not hesitate to book here.

Gentlemen Thank you for the raving review about 15 FTL Hotel. I'm quite sure Walt (the new owner and Ed) took very good care of you as they do all our guests. They often express how delighted they are to meet you all and enjoy the mixed group of people the property draws from all over the world now. We are glad to see the hotel made the right choice in opening up to all adults and not just a select few. Please do come again and know you will always be Welcome at our small slice of Florida sunshine. Regards, Allan / front desk

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Wanted to try something different than the usual big name hotels. I was very impressed. Walt, who manages the property goes the extra mile for his guest. The pool and property was immaculate. Kitchen provides a huge assortment of free goodies. FreshThomas bagels, Tropicana juices, assortment of cereals, fruits, yogurts, etc. Internet was very fast which was one of my main concerns. FREE daily laundry and fold service. 5 minutes from Beach. Victoria Park is a nice part of Fort Lauderdale that I would not hesitate to recommend. Walt will share his cell phone # in case you need anything. You can tell from the moment you meet Walt you are in great hands. Great guy that I wish the best of luck. Thank you and I hope to see you on my next trip to South Florida.

I needed a few days away from it all and ended up booking with 15FTL. What a treat. I ended up in Room 4 - a king-sized bed facing the pool. Walt, the host was most hospitable and very attentive. The property is very clean and tranquil and close enough to the bars in Wilton Manors and the beach.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this to others. Great for solo travellers and couples.

I now know exactly where I need to go should I need a get-away in the future.

Thanks Walt!

My partner and I made the decision to visit the Wilton Manors area for the first time and found this quaint little B&B off the beaten path in Victoria Park. We are older women who don't like the large noisy resorts with the constant activity that sometimes happens there. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly when my partner Judy went to finalize our reservations for my birthday weekend. What a nice surprise to find out the night before arriving that the Staff had upgraded our unit to poolside Unit 1.

Yes, it is true the parking is small but so is the inn - it is only 8 units. This place is beautiful and well maintained. Reminded me in many ways of a small Key West Inn. We found no problems what so ever with parking as everyone was so accommodating. I see in reading some of the other reviews that it's believed they aren't catering to the GLBT crowd. If this is true then why do they have an ad in the Funmaps.com : the gay map service for the gay and lesbian community? The staff went out of there way for us when we told them we were gay - had mapped out for us in our room the different places we might be interested in visiting while we were staying there. Found this to be very helpful.

We arrived late due to my having to work on Saturday - we were told this was not to be a problem whatsoever and it wasn't. When we pulled into the parking lot there was a small welcome sign in our name on the mailbox and our room was unlocked with the key on the table. A very nice welcome letter written out in longhand welcoming us for our stay reminding us of our upgrade and the map and guide for the area highlighted.

Recommended Rosie's Bar and Grill at 2449 Wilton Drive - a very gay restaurant with amazing food and super friendly staff. We enjoyed the place so much we came back the next day for their Happy Hour and stayed again for dinner. Both times the service was terrific.. thanks Jeremy and Pablo. We ventured across the street to visit the Lesbian Bar the New Moon and
this was the first downer of the evening - my partner and I don't smoke nor do we like LOUD music in small venues. Too suffocating. We went back to our room to chill out and take a swim as it had been a long day and drive coming down from Orlando.

The next morning we were very surprised at the level of what was available for the continental breakfast. Cereals, bagels, toast, fruit, Greek yogurt, coffee, teas, sodas, juices, beer, all top shelf name brands with glassware, silverware, plate ware as well as take out containers if you wanted to take something with you. This is all available 8 am-11 am with turn down service from 11-3 with the office closing @ 4 pm. This is normal when you stay in a small B&B. At the corner there is a Publix with an amazing wine selection where we picked up a few of our favorites. Because we drink wine we had brought our own wine stems and screw but, it turns out it wasn't necessary as everything was provided - two wine glasses, wine bucket and corkscrew. Nice touch! It is not necessary for them to provide me with my every whim as I am an adult who would prefer to bring the supplies I want. With this said, I was not disappointed in any way with their rules. Thought it was a nice touch.

Top of line brand new bedding with beautiful white leather high headboards tastefully decorated in subtle beach colors. There was a beautiful black and white photograph of a nude male hanging in the bathroom that was nicely done. Shower was over-sized with plenty of thick white plush towels as well as a full line of L'Occitane bath products which we use at home and love. Beautiful stone tile with wood and glass accents throughout the bathroom.

We decided on Saturday morning to visit the famous Sebastian beach and was totally turned off by the complete lack of parking unless you were willing to spend $10-30 for the day. Since there was no parking anywhere we ended up spending our day driving up the coast looking for a place for lunch - finally landing at Aruba Cafe in Lauderdale by the sea. Had a high priced watered down cocktail and decided we had enough. Turned our car around and went back to Rosie's where the valet parking was complementary , the drinks cold and cheap , the service friendly and the food amazing. This time we sat outside and relaxed - we weren't in a hurry we were having too much fun staying where we were.

Finally we returned after a hectic, stressful day to the peace and quiet and cleanliness of the 15 FTL. Our room had been cleaned with everything back in its rightful place and our beds made. We went for a nightly swim and ate our desert the Bread Pudding we brought home from Rosie's.

As we were finishing eating our breakfast poolside the next morning it started pouring rain and the staff offered us a umbrella to walk back to our room . These guys were gracious and entertaining and so amazingly helpful with everything.

I am aware that many years ago this was a male gay clothing optional resort but, it is no longer. With so many of these types of resorts available on the beach there is no reason why if this is what you are looking for that you should just check in and stay there. I am not interested in a public area swimming or sunbathing with anything more than topless. Full frontal nudity for either gender in a setting that isn't designed for this is offensive to me.I also know I am not alone on this subject.

The staff expressed that they hoped many of the gay community would visit and stay in their property. At the end of the day it is THEIR property and you have the choice as to whether or not you stay there. It seems unfair that because some of the previous guests may not have been aware of the changes that they expect things to be the same as they were. It is obvious of the care and attention that the staff here is putting in. They are creating a beautiful small serene retreat away from hustle and bustle of its Brother beach , the Sebastian.

We will return again soon and we will bring friends both male and female with us, both gay and straight as we feel we have found a home away from home. If you want to be treated with respect and courtesy always remember to put the first foot forward in greeting.
