Really clean park. There are picnic sites right on the intercoastal. Great for a picnic where you can watch the boats float by. Great area for volleyball and some trails. I was not crazy about walking along the entrance trail, but overall a great park.

This is the largest piece of undeveloped land on the beach in South Florida. I used to live near here, and often rode my bike there daily.

Its beautiful with lots of open places and pavilions and picnic tables. I often take naps under the big banyan tree next to pavilion #1, and the tar road is a couple mile long loop thru the trees and along the intercoastal waterway. A fun place to get a nature fix amidst the hectic busyness of Ft. Lauderdale.

Who was Hugh Taylor Birch and why is this park named for him? The answer to that question is why this park has a special place in the hearts of we Ft. Lauderdale natives. A true Florida pioneer, first arriving in the 1890s, Birch foresaw what S. Florida would become. He left this legacy of green space to future generations at a time when everyone else, including state and local governments saw land only as dollar signs. It is living reminder of what this place was like before it was covered with concrete. If you don't think that's worth the price of admission please take your 6 bucks up to "The Parks" [Orlando] and buy a.... I don't know... I don't think you CAN buy anything up there for only $6.

I have been to this park numerous times over the years. This last year we spent a day at a pavilion with many friends and we really liked the beach access.

We took our six-year old daughter to the park and we left after 10 minutes after having spent $6 on admission. We had nothing to do except walk through the trees and go look at the boats on the Intercoastal which you can do everywhere in Fort Lauderdale. Personally it is nice to have some greenery in the middle of Fort Lauderdale which is so rare but it should be a park, like Central Park... free of charge.
