Miles and miles of sand. This is a must if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area. I do think the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico side are nicer though. The buildings along the beach front are in need of some updates.

Really nice beach. Family friendly. Lots of places to eat across A1A. You have to pay to park. On the beach side at the public park it is $1.75 an hour. Up to $5 or more at hotels on the other side of A1A (an hour).

So we are walking along the boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale and the beautiful, clean, shallow, white sand beach stretches on and on. There are different names, but they all seem the same: a life guard tower, beach loungers and blue umbrellas for about $40, a rinse off shower, hotels and shops and eateries across the boulevard, and lots of friendly people having fun.

But where are the public restrooms?? We asked lifeguards at two different stations and both told us that there aren't any. You either have to be staying at a hotel and head all the way back, or spend some dough and get a drink so you can let your kids use the restrooms. What's up with that?

Beach Place, the area by Las Olas and Atlantic Ocean has lots of restaurants to choose from, the best looking hotels are here.

This beach is big and the good thing is that right across the street you have all kinds of places to eat, drink and shop. If you like going to the beach, you have to visit this one.
