Consistently delicious food. We travel to Fort Lauderdale several times a year and visit Casa Frida every time. Everything we've had has been delicious, but I highly recommend the pork. It is tender and lean. The portions are perfect, the service is great, and the sangria is a bonus!

WOW! Casa Frida is not the usual Mexican restaurant. From the portraits of Frida Kahlo hanging on the wall to its spicy salsa. You have the experience of an authentic Mexican food with an intimate dinning. I would recommend this to anyone. It is a little pricey, but good food!!

We dined here several nights ago while on vacation in Fort Lauderdale.
The restaurant is located in a strip mall and about a 30 minute drive from the AIA hotels area. It's fairly small inside and decorated nicely with the usual Mexican icons.

Our server came to our table just as we were sitting down and quickly detailed the specials of the evening - so quickly that we didn't get half of it. Our waiter was rather crude and busier flirting with the ladies at the next table than serving us (our dinner sat out on the main counter for some time before he brought them over to us) Drinks arrived fairly promptly and were good - I had sangria and hubby had a magarita.

We ordered guacamole for an appetizer. This arrived as about 4 tablespoons full in a small bowl along with about 7 nachos in a small soup bowl. The nachos were not fresh Of course, the nachos were gone quickly but we were given a refill after quite a bit of time.

For a main dish, hubby ordered a "suckling pig meat" stuffed in a banana leaf. This was really pulled pork sitting on a piece of flat leaf. No special flavors........his sides were rice and vegetables....neither of which was remarkable.

I ordered steak fajitas which were pathetic. There was no more than 2 ounces of "meat" sliced very tiny and cooked so much that it was chewy. This was served with barely cooked peppers and onions. Honestly, I have had better in a Chili's restaurant...!!

Our surly waiter continued his charade with the ladies at the next table. He presented us a bill with an extra entree tacked on for about $16.00. Neither of us was surprised at this. The "extra" entree was removed with out any apology.

I thought that we were going to have a nice dinner with some regional specialties....definitely not what happened!! Needless to say, we cannot recommend this place to anyone!

I live the Ft. Lauderdale area and have passed Casa Frida many times and never noticed it. A work mate from out of town suggested we eat there as it was close to her hotel. I must say our dining experience was awesome. The margaritas had a special flavor and the food was NOT the typical Mexican you might expect. It had depth and intrigue with each bite. It brought forward that Mexican food is more than just tacos, burritos and enchiladas. It brought forth the reminder that the Mayan Indians once inhabited what we now know as Mexico. Their tastes and flavors were highlighted in Casa Frida's food. I would certainly return and eat here.

Once a year we come to Lauderdale By The Sea, and we were looking for a new restaurant to try. I found Casa Frida's on the internet. We were hesitant to go in, as we were the first and only diners. Not long after our arrival couples and groups started pouring in. The waiter was very helpful, the host gracious and personable. We had salmon grilled to perfection, which had a mole verde sauce second to none. Seasoned street corn, and mashed redskins rounded out the meal, and my favorite drink, Margaritas. We couldn't resist trying dessert, pumpkin topped with a scoop of ice cream and a cherry on top. We definitely will be back next year.
