Spent a night at the Pillars... beautiful environment. They said the suite would be great for two couples. It turned out the second bed was a pull-out sofa. What a rough night! And now they deny recommending the suite...

We always stay at the Pillars for the first week in May while I'm at a conference, and we absoluely love it and always look forward to our stay there! We've stayed there 4 times now. It's what a Small Luxury hotel should be!

We stayed at the Pillars last summer whilst touring Florida and it is one of our fondest memories. It is a colonial style house in a great setting on the waterway and near the beach. The hotel is intimate and luxurious and the rooms have everything you would expect from a top class hotel.
It is extremely welcoming and the service is excellent and I thoroughly recommend breakfast on the waterfront for a great start to the day.
I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in the world through work and pleasure and this is my favourite hotel of all.
The hotel also has a very romantic feel and during our stay I proposed to my girlfriend and we are getting married this summer!

My wife and I stayed at the Pillars for five nights in March and we had a great time. It lacked some of the conveniences available to you in larger resort-style hotels (24 hr room service, poolside bar, etc.) such as Turnberry Isle, but made up for it with the personable service and quaint atmosphere that only a boutique-style hotel can offer.

The Deluxe Queen Cabana room we stayed in was rather small inside, but had a large and private cabana looking out across the pool towards the waterway. The bedding in the room was very nice and the bathroom was a descent size. We would highly recommend this room if it's available.

The hotel's menu is small, but reasonably priced, making it an excellent value considering the quality of the food. However, breakfast, lunch and dinner are only available in the designated hours. We definitely suggest eating your meals on the dock while the boats go by for an authentic Fort Lauderdale experience. The dock is also an great place to watch the sun set over the waterway.

If you're looking to go out for lunch, there are a few places within walking distance, including Casablancas and the handful of restaurants in the Marriott Beach Place complex. However, the food court in the Galleria Mall, which is only a five minute drive and has free parking, was excellent with a large selection of quality foods in a cafeteria style setup.

For dinners, there are many options on Las Olas Blvd., with our favourite being the Cheesecake Factory. There's usually a line-up, but it’s well worth the wait for the huge menu of quality foods, ample portions and the best cheesecake around. One night we drove out to the Seminole Hardrock (25 minute drive), but were a little disappointed with the restaurant options there.

The Water Taxi, which picks you up right from the hotel's dock, provides and excellent tour of the boats and mansions in the area, but takes too long (almost an hour) to get downtown and is a little erratic with the schedule to be counted on as a mode of transportation.

We never went to the beach, since we preferred the privacy and comfort of sitting in the poolside lounge chairs (with complimentary ice tea and lemon water), but apparently the hotel will provide you with beach towels if you wanted to make the five minute trek to the ocean.

The only negative things we found were that the drapes in our room needed a washing because of the dust on them and the bathtub could probably use a reno as it was a little dated. However, these things hardly took away from the great experience we had we will definitely return next time we're in Fort Lauderdale.

The pre-cruise package at the Pillars is a perfect way to begin our Silversea vacation. It includes limo pickup at the airport and a limo to the cruise terminal, breakfasts and a bottle of wine of your choice from the hotel collection, plus 3 nights at the hotel. There is only 1 twin bedded room, which is on the small side, but it was comfortable and quiet. The location and service set this hotel apart. Thomas, the factotum, graciously will do anything and everything to stopping traffic when you back your car out to serving the take-out dinner you ordered from Downtown Pizzaria. The water scene from the dock is so entrancing guests gaze contentedly for hours.

The package is also available post-cruise and an excellent idea.

My wife and I recently made a business trip to the Orlando area and added 5 days to our trip to enjoy a little r&r - what an excellent decision this was as we stayed at a lovely hotel in Ft. Lauderdale called the Pillars.

This hotel reminded us of the many hotels we have enjoyed in our travels and especially like those in Bermuda.

It sits right on the inland waterway with a dock you can enjoy breakfast or dinner on while watching the boating activity pass you by. Both the breakfasts and dinners are quite nice.

The hotel has a lovely pool area, ample off
street parking and is well located for you to plan your trips to restaurants, the beach, downtown shops or side trips to the Palm Beach or Miami areas.

The rooms are spacious, well designed and well equipped.

Finally the 2 managers we worked with - Caroline and Tom provided A+ friendly service for every request we asked of them.

In summary this lovely, quaint hotel merits every bit of the 5star rating the many quests on this review site gave it. Book your stay here and you will not be disappointed, we loved it!

Recently spent four nights at the Pillars - very enjoyable and relaxing. We stayed in the Intracoastal Suite - very comfortable, clean, quiet, and well decorated. Breakfast served in the room or on the dock 15 feet away was a delight - ditto for lunch! The poool area was very nice, but we preferred the beautiful ocean beach, a five minute walk away. Staff was very helpful and accomodating - (special thanks to Tom).
Had nice meals at Big City Tavern, (great bar area and some really good Asian fusion dishes!), Eduardo de SanAngel (very fine Mexican cuisine, but abysmal service on the night we were there), and Casablanca, right around the corner from the Pillars - (not in the same league with the first 2, but none-the-less, quite enjoyable).
