My husband and I stayed one night, pre-cruise, at this old hotel. I would not stay at this hotel again, if it were free. The hotel lobby was shabby and the front desk staff was unfriendly, rude, and slow. They will arrange a shuttle for you to Port Everglades at a cost of $10 per person. Extremely uncomfortable bed... needs major updates... cost $5 to use their computer. Photo of pool area on their website does not look like actual pool area. Mexican restaurant next door is only place within walking distance. Stay away from this hotel.

Management response:Responded July 29, 2010

Thank you for your feedback. It is imperative we hear from our previous guests to learn from our mistakes. I do apologize that you did not enjoy your accommodations and if there is anything we can ever do for you in the future, please let us know. Currently, our property is in the process of upgrading to a Best Western Plus property and with that in mind, the hotel is receiving a face lift. We have acknowledged the lobby, which is currently in the process of being redesigned. Along with other upgrades, all the rooms have pillow top Simmons mattresses which I might add, since installing those, we have received rave reviews about how well people have slept.
We have also added new staff and management to the team, so you can expect quality service from our entire staff. We understand that service is a large reason why people return to the same establishment year after year. Management has also decided that the business center is free of charge. There was a time in the past that the space for the business center was rented out as a meeting room as well and that was the reason for the charge.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please reconsider us in the future.

I was laughed at (literally) by the front desk clerk when I called to inquire about checking out an hour and a half late. The maintenance worker demanded that I move out of his way - along with my luggage while waiting for a taxi, only to run the leaf blower for 30 seconds and leave the area. I've never felt like such a bother to a business I was patronizing. A word of caution for night owls, there are no convenience stores nearby that are open late.

We requested early check in, a number of months before. It took about '2 hours'. A couple of others were waiting as well. Management seems to be a little challenged on dealing with this. Front desk is great. Thanks to Walter and Janelle. Great complimentary breakfast. The Mexican restaurant there is fabulous. First floor is perfect for kids. Close to pool. Very nice.

We have stayed in this hotel on a few occassions but i would have to say there was a difference in the cleanliness and the facilities on this trip plus it was good to have the internet that we could use to e-mail home. The hotel is very central for the beach and shops or if you want to go exploring and the pool area is very good if you just wanted to lie and relax. The new mexican restaurant attached to the hotel was very good the food was excellent and the margaritas were lovely at the time but in the morning it was a different story. The staff at the front desk were very friendly compared to previous occassions but i would have to say the ladies who do the breakfast buffet and they have been there for a long time are helpful but very unfriendly The manager Walter was extremely helful and always wanted to know if there were any problems or if there was anything he could do to make our stay more comfortable. The only problem i have is that i have to come home as Fort Lauderdale has got everyting you would want on a holiday.

If you dont mind staying a few blocks from the beach this hotel is a secret gem in Fort Lauderdale. The place is almost like a small resort. By day ou can sit by the pool and soak up some rays, spend the afternoon at The tiki bar and sip margaritas in Maracas all night. The housekeeping department deserves a raise as you could eat off the floor because everything is spotlessly clean. The oversized deluxe rooms are much nicer than any other Best Western I have ever stayed in with flat sceens, steamers, and you even get candy on your pillow. Be sure to send at least one night at Maracas bar where you will find more locals than tourists and some great Mexican food. Plus the staff is really friendly.

I WILL BE BACK!!!!

This had to be the best hotel we have ever stayed at, as far as cleanliness (even the pavement in the parking lot was spotless), service, breakfast, free drinks. We will definitely stay here any time we are in FLL prior to a Cruise.

Stayed 3 nites prior to cruise and 2 nites after cruise. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the convenience of having a breakfast was great. Also a mall not too far from hotel (walking distance). Good if you required any last minute items for cruise.
Would definitely stay there again.
