This hotel turned out to be perfect for a pre-cruise stay. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale airport and did not have to wait long for the hotel shuttle. There was a $5 charge per person anytime you used the shuttle which was very reasonable. We arrived in the evening and upon checking in we tried to get on the list for the shuttle to the cruise port the next day. The desk clerk, Karlene, was so helpful in making sure that we got on the schedule. She even called our room to assure us that we all set for the next morning. Another desk clerk, Chad, was also very helpful with my questions when I had called the hotel before arrival. The hotel room was clean and a pretty much a typical room. There was a shopping center within walking distance with a Target and a grocery store which was just perfect for buying last minute drinks, sunscreen, etc. to bring on the ship.

We chose this property to stay based upon TripAdvisor reviews. We called them from the airport and their shuttle was there to pick us up in about 15-20 minutes for a nominal fee. The driver was friendly and very informative recommending places nearby to eat and shop. The front desk clerk was very nice and gave us a 10% off coupon for Millers Ale House Restaurant within walking distance. The motel is an older facility which has been well kept up and modernized. It was very clean with a cute pool area. Our room was extremely clean with a seating island, wet bar, microwave and fridge. The air conditioning was a bit inadequate which would be a concern because the weather was not very hot (mid 70's). The neighborhood appears to be a "changing" neighborhood. I never felt unsafe but we did notice several empty storefronts, pawn shops and street people in the area. Shopping was extremely convenient with Target, grocery stores, liquor stores, restaurants and a Best Buy within walking distance. Breakfast buffet was nice with the usual breakfast of eggs, meat, toast, waffles, yogurt and such. Shuttle to the cruise port was available for a nominal fee and worked perfectly. Based upon the other properties in the area, this was a great cost effective place to stay. I would use this facility again.

My family stayed here over the Easter weekend and our experience was very positive. At check-in, we asked to see the two rooms we reserved and the clerk gladly took us to the room for the inspection. The rooms were immaculate and had sort of a "bungalow feel" to them. The motel staff was helpful and friendly and there seemed to be plenty of staff to keep the place running smooth. This is the cleanest motel that we have stayed in, in quite a while. The grounds are extremely neat & clean, especially the pool area. At the pool area, you can sit in the sun or the shade, and feel completely separated from the rest of the world, as it is located inside the court yard formed by the four sections of the motel. There is an adjacent restaurant which is closed now and looking for someone to take it over. When it becomes operational, it will be an additional asset to an already wonderful and convenient place to stay. Overall we were very happy with this facility.

Room Tip: While there are elevators, the rooms on the first floor are hard to beat for convenience.

We had read the reviews but decided to stay here due to the location. Forget it and drive a little more! The female desk clerk upon check in was rude. Since the water is undrinkable, I asked if they provide bottled water. I was informed that water is available for purchase. Our room had a broken toilet which needed to be fixed. Luckily it was fixed quickly. Then we noticed that the sink would not drain, we had to remove the stopper. Then the towel rack fell down. The bathroom had a strange odor--probably due to the yellowish water. The room was dated but clean. Breakfast was fine but not exceptional. That male clerk upon check out was nicer. You do get a free newspaper. Would not stay here again.

The most aggrivating thing, the shuttle is just around the corner, 2 hours later it shows. Do not recommend. Our room smelled, rude front desk and price changed after arrival. The cost was less than other motels but cheap is not always the best thing. Some guest had similar experiences. If you have low standards then this is your place to stay. I booked thru the nationwide booking, got charged for a no show before the no show date, called the location and got no help. Several attempts got promises that didnt hold up. The manager was never available to answer for anything. The aggrivation is not worth it.

Room Tip: Different brand motel, will never stay at BW.

Have stayed here 4 times in the past 3 yrs. before cruises. It is reasonably priced compared to other pre-cruise hotels but we will not stay here again. The desk staff on days never make you feel they are glad you decided to stay here, more like its a job. Afternoon shift was pleasant. Large, busy breakfast room was short staffed, many items needed restocking with only one person to do it. Breakfast had a very good selection. Nearby grocery/medium size mall. Area is not great, high traffic area also, safer to drive although mall is only a 5-7 min. walk. There is a large metal gate that is locked at about 8 pm and you use your hotel card to exit/reenter from the back parking lot. We had the room right next to the gate and it was very noisy with opening/closing until about 11 pm. We waited 1 hr. 10 min. for a hotel pickup after a cruise. The driver said he'd been there earlier after we called and no one was waiting for BWest. pickup. All vans/buses etc. are readily visible to anyone waiting, as are both waiting areas for those that are picking up people. The next couple waiting at the airport said they had been waiting an hour. Rooms were clean. Nice pool area with tiki bar.

I'm a 'hotel snob' so I was apprehensive about staying here. I was surprised that the room was reasonably cleaner than I anticipated. It smelled a bit moldy/mildewy from the window a/c unit but was very clean. Bring a can of lysol with you the clear that up some. The place was walking distance to the mall and the places I wanted to visit. They serve a very nice breakfast for free. I would stay there again.
