We stayed at the Renaissance in Fort Lauderdale because the location was good, the price was more reasonable, and Renaissance is usually better than average. As it turned out, the hotel did not meet my expectations. We had a corner room, so it was quite sunny, which was nice, and there was a nice lounge chair, but other than that the room was nothing special. We stayed 2 nights and although we were out and about all day, our room was never cleaned. I called housekeeping and they said we weren't on the list to be cleaned. Huh? Finally, after 5:00 someone came to clean. That was disappointing.
The public areas were quite nice. The pool was lovely, although it is next to a very busy road so there is a lot of traffic noise. The whirlpool wasn't working, but when I notified the front desk someone showed up almost immediately to see what was wrong and they told me it would be fixed by the end of the day, which was reasonable.
One thing that struck both my husband and I was the poor quality of the towels. They really need to step up their game in that department.
The location was very nice. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance (although the road is very busy and loud so walking isn't all that pleasant).More
