we booked a tour from Weston, Fla to Key West. It was a long drive, but our tour guide kept us well informed as we traveled the 3.5 hours to our destination. He was very well informed and gave us a wealth of info as we were driven in a very comfortable tour bus.We were provided so much info for our final destination. a detailed map was provided, with 10 different points of interest clearly marked. the tour made a personal rest stop both coming and going to our destination.

Lete me start by saying that I have done other Duck tours and this one pales in comparison. I paid $27 with a military discount to take one of the two daily duck departures from Beach Place (office on 2nd floor next to Subway). Our guide was a sweet young woman but she tried too hard to stick to her script and when she forgot her lines it was time for the whole boat to start quacking. QUACK. QUACK. QUACK! Oh my Goodness did we QUACK!! We were stuck onboard for an hour and a half with this over caffeinated female version or Mr. Rogers who told the group of predominately senior citizens (of which I am not one of but no problem there) over and over and OVER again what a beautiful day it was in the neighborhood. QUACK!! QUACK!! QUACK!!! She ferreted about the boat quacking and trying her darndest to live up to their advertised "interactive performance". IT was a performance I suppose, just not a good one. Starting from the Gilligan's island theme song with our version of Ginger the starlet trying way too hard to stick with her script to driving through rather unattractive parts of Fort Lauderdale). The most pleasant part were the drivers, Bob and Luis . They were low key, interactive and pleasant to be around. My advice to unnamed guide. You are a sweet, intelligent young woman. Read your audience. Ditch the script. You don't need to collectively quack at every corner and sometimes let the sites speak for themselves. Don't be a distraction. It was like watching a trapped ferret run ( and QUACK!) around a small hot boat. Bottom line is that the water taxi was more informative, more pleasant, more relaxing, less expensive ($18 with the military discount for all day on/off privelages) and we got a much more in depth up close tour of the intercostal waterway with its mega yachts, mansions and famous denizens.

This was our first Duck tour so we had no idea what to expect. Our guide, Daphne, made the experience, with her wit, knowledge, and gregarious nature. After a short tour of the city, we drove into the Inter-coastal. We entered a world of unbelievably large yachts and water-side mansions. Daphne's stories about the locals and boats made the trip flash by. She gave a fun fact filled history of early Ft. Luaderdale and a tour of the main street, complete with recommendations for dining, or shopping or people-watching. This was a fun excursion and we will definitely do this in other cities.

Depends on what you want, I guess. Reviews here are all of the same tour with the same guide, but different reactions. Compared with tours of other cities like Boston and Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale just doesn't have much interesting to show, I guess. Time on the water was ok if you like a tour of Houses and Yachts of the Rich and Famous. Time on land was mainly sitting in Fort Lauderdale traffic, although the drive down restaurant row on Las Olas was nice. Howie's humor is about sixth grade level, except for the frequent innuendos that hopefully travel over the heads of the sixth graders. He's working on his history and facts but he doesn't have very much to present yet. He needs to have better content or just be quiet for a while. We didn't check out the water taxis but I suspect they might be better.

Howie, our tour guide was so very knowledgeble both about homes on the waterways, history of the area, and gave us good reviews on local restaurants - all the while done with humor and trivia! Everyone on the trip had a great time - lots of great sites and good laughter.
