I think the boat ride is great, we got to see a aligator in the wild, loved it. But the way they keep the animals they have at this place made me depressed :( The are to many in one cage (for example the bearded dragons), or the cage is WAY to small. And the way they keep the wolfes and big cats. . .this is no way to keep these animals, it is so sad :( So if you are a TRUE animal lover, this place will make you depressed. You can also pay to hold an aligator baby, this is EXTREMELY stressful for the animal, so sad they have to suffer for our amusement.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your airboat adventure as the Everglades is truly remarkable. I did, however, take great concern with your impression of our exhibit areas. Our park is family owned and operated. We have rescued over 100 animals brought to us by Florida Fish and Game, the Wildlife Care Center in Ft. Lauderdale and private citizens. We are also babysitting several animals for soldiers who are currently in Iraq. There is no other facility of our kind in Broward County, we not only meet all legal requirements for habitats and enclosures but we exceed those by more than 20% for every animal in our care. The law enforcement agency that governs our animal care brings us many animals each year because of the quality of our facilities. Our concern for the happiness and care of our reptiles is deep. We name our animals, we research how to provide enrichment for them, and they all receive outstanding veterinary care. Our animals are not a for-profit business for us, they are our family. We cry when we lose them of old age and we have sleepless nights when they get a cold. The donation to hold the smaller alligators does solely profit the animals welfare and it does not harm the animal in any way. We interact on a regular basis to help socialize the reptiles so when they are much larger and older they are not a threat to our staff. We refuse to wrestle our alligators as we feel it is morally wrong and it is detrimental to their health and safety. I sincerely apologize that this was not apparent during your visit and I assure you we are constantly expanding and enriching their habitats. Please come back and visit us again someday!

This place had boat rides as well as wild animal exhibits, our ride was 30 min and we saw a gator on it, the staff are very informative and making it a fun and educational journey. the exhibits had everything from snakes, turtles, birds, wolfs, and baby gators, we spent a good time looking at them. The day was topped of though by Tim who put on a show demonstrating the gator, and used a large live gator too, it was very amazing to see the human and animal interact. Tim knew everything about gators and his show was very informative and entertaining, he still put the show on too even though it was only 4 of us there, overall this place has a lot to see and do and friendly staff, the prices arn't too bad either, the boat ride cost also gives you admission to the exhibits and shows.

The airboat ride is pretty boring after the first few minutes all of the everglades pretty much looks the same ...they give a disclaimer stating that you may not see any gators at all. Fortunately for us we saw at least 5 or 6 and it made for great pictures!

The info you get about the everglades is minimal.

Would recommend not to go in the afternoon as they are nocturnal; the guide will tell you that. More luck in the Early morning or late evening.

The animal exhibits were pretty sad looking when we went but you get to hold a baby gator.

Would recommend for younger kids.

The $20.00 admission seems a bit much. There are $2.00 off coupons but

We are so excited you were able to find 5-6 gators on your tour, that is wonderful! It is great that you were able to visit our park all the way from Canada, I am sure the Everglades is quite different from your hometown. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers here on TripAdvisor, we do apologize if you feel that the airboat ride was in any way boring or if the exhibit areas did not meet your expectations. We are actually in the middle of several phases of expansion and construction in our exhibit since we have tripled the amount of reptiles and mammals in our care of the last 5 years due to rescues and adoptions. We hope you visit us again in the future to see how all of the improvements turn out. = )

Having seen airboats in movies and on television shows, an airboat ride was something that we really wanted to try, so my family and I took an airboat ride at Sawgrass Recreation Park. We also love animals, so we hoped to see some wild alligators during our tour.

We enjoyed the fast ride through sawgrass-filled water and saw a few different types of birds and two alligators during our tour. After the ride, we saw more wildlife around the grounds of the park and explored the nice mini-zoo included in the price of our tour. There is a detailed review of our experience, along with beautiful photos and a humorous video of our ride, at www.mydreamcametrue.com/airboat

Having grown up with the Everglades practically in my backyard, Im accustomed to the presence of sawgrass and the occasional gator in our canals. One lazy afternoon, my family decided on a whim to take an airboat ride and Sawgrass Recreation Park was our choice. We went out on a 30 minute tour with Charles. He was funny, entertaining and very knowledgeable. We also really enjoyed the exhibits and overall, had a great time. We will be retuning as this is a great family oriented activity great for all ages.

Thank you for your outstanding comments from the perspective of a local resident! Weston is just a hop away from our park so we hope you took advantage of the complimentary Florida Resident Pass so you can visit the park and enjoy the airboat rides again and again! It was nice to hear how we met your expectations of an Everglades experience and even though you are a native you were able to learn something about the habitat. We want to thank you for choosing Sawgrass Recreation Park! - The Soverns Family
