A friend of mine took me to this wonderful restaurant last year and I wanted to go back last week when I got back to Ft. Lauderdale. So much on the menu is so tasty. Try the chicken and turkey meatballs and the pepperoni pizza. You will be amazed!!!

Thank John B

D'Angleo Pizza, run by people trained by top chef Angelo Elia offers the finest selection of authentic Italian small plate goodies, pizza, gelato. It's a great place to share a lot of small dishes if you are two or more. Whether you enjoy Roman delicacies like stuffed Zucchini flowers or just fresh roasted peppers, salads, salumi, prosciutto, clams and mussels, lobster bisque, special pastas and entrees of the day or just want to have a traditional Italian pizza with fresh toppings, you won't be disappointed. The sophisticated European palate will appreciate the quality and authenticity of the ingredients, but the average person will also appreciate the good selection of food. Wine lovers will like the opportunity to order dozens of wines (mostly Italian) by the glass or quartino, and many more by the bottle. This is our favorite restaurant when we want something less formal than the parent restaurant, Casa D'Angelo, which is the best Italian restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale.

Angelo Elia is one of if not the top chefs in South Florida. His Casa d'Angelo has long filled a high-end niche in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and now Pizzeria d'Angelo provides more affordable (and informal) access to the same inspired culinary vision. It's worth noting that the restaurant is a Pizzeria on its sign but in fine print calls itself "Pizzeria, Wine Bar and Tapas," a much better descriptor of the extent of the culinary adventure inside (or outside - there is a pleasant al fresco dining area as well). Elia is from the Naples area but he's not a stickler for making only the traditional pie (though his basic Margherita is closer to those I've had in Naples than any other pizzas I've had in the US) - he comes up with inventive combinations like a fabulous fig and white cheese pizza. There are two dozen pizzas, divided equally between red sauce and white pizzas plus calzones. This isn't just a pizzeria however - exceptional seafood salads, stuffed zucchini flowers, a killer eggplant rollitini, various takes on polenta and several good pastas. The wine list is nearly all Italian and very good with over a dozen choices by the glass and good bottles at every price point. Save room for dessert as well - these are not the overly sweet confections found at many Italian restaurants but serious "simple" offerings: a wonderful lemon scented "Grandmother's Cake," very good tiramisu, crunchy cannoli and the best homemade gelato in the city. Contrary to the impression of another reviewer I've sensed no drop in quality, quantity or service and I go every couple of months.

We love it! We ate the Rice balls,Zucchini flowers and the Crocchette and were so good! Same for all the food that we ate, the pizza with Buffalo Mozzarella and Salami piccante was same as in Italy. Excellent wine list. We'll back soon. Our service was awesome! Grazie!
