We returned again to the Sea Watch during our short visit to the area for lunch, and it did not disappoint. It is as reliable as an old railroad watch. We enjoyed sharing three lunches featuring swordfish, red snapper, and mahi-mahi with scallops and shrimp. The fish was accompanied by buttery sliced carrots, fresh green beans, and red potato. In addition, we were served wonderful home baked breads with a generous side of butter. We also shared their simply wonderful Triple Chocolate dessert treat with a side of hot fudge. The bill was under $50 for the three of us, but the service was both attentive and appreciative. In addition to its on the beach location, the place features a retro nautical theme. It is hard to imagine a better place to lunch.

We ate lunch here over the MLK weekend based on recommendations and reveiws found here. We were quite surprised when the restaurant turned out to be less expensive than we expected.

My friend ordered the broiled scallops w/grilled red bell pepper sauce, oregano, white wine sauce; I ordered the Sea Watch combination, mahi-mahi, scallops, and shrimp in a herb garlic, white wine sauce. Both were large portions and excellent. The dishes came with coleslaw, steamed carrots, steamed green beans, new potatoes, and the best bread I've had in quite some time. Our basket had thick sliced and crusty white bread and a black bread. The black was our fave, were surprised to find it was pumpernickel. We split a piece of wonderful key lime pie; I had a beer.

This was more food than we could eat . . . it was delicious . . . it ended up being quite inexpensive, less than $50 including 20% tip.

It was right on the beach, would be a lovely place for a romantic dinner.

There is no question that Sea Watch has a wonderful location ... right on the beach. It is clearly "locally popular." That is usually a good sign, but not here. Overall a huge disappointment. We had a reservation but the hostess nearly didn’t find it (there were only six in the book at that time and I had to show our name to her. The waiter was a bit unprofessional and seemed more interested in getting the tables turned over. Everything was rushed. All could be forgiven if the food was great or even good ... but it was just fair. (The portions are huge and all the locals had take home, perhaps that is why it is so popular). Prices were high for what you got. For example, the paella was just rice with seafood and both added. The lobster was clearly boiled and had not even been grilled. Except for a small chunk of artichoke, vegetables were missing. The noise level is high since they clean the plates in the dining room (similar to fast food restaurants that charge half as much!) rather than take dirty dishes and silverware to the back. This means that all through dinner you have the clink of china and the clang of silverware being thrown into a pan competing with the background music. Some reviewers talked about the desserts. Our waiter cleared the table and said “You probably don’t want desert after that but here is the menu.” Clearly he was already thinking of the next table so we left. A very disappointing evening.

I have been to the Sea Watch many times during the 11+ years that I have lived in the area. Until my most recent visit, the food has always been superb and the service has typically been at least good. I took some friends there (their first time) for dinner on 1/8/10 and it was a dissappointment.

Our server (Anthony I believe) was somewhat unprofessional and not attentive. My fish was way overdone and dry - looked almost "pan-blackened" even though it wasn't supposed to be. Everything else was so-so. Every place has an off-night and I guess it was our bad luck to hit it. Hopefully the next visit will be better or the Sea Watch will be off my list.

We ate dinner at the Seawatch three times during our recent 2-week visit to Fort Lauderdale. We kept going back as we really liked it there! We found the food to be great (try the Tuna - amazing), the atmosphere to be one of the best in the area with an open/covered porch on the beach, the service very friendly & knowlegable, and best of all the prices which are very reasonable.

One comment, for Trip Advisor also, the restaurant is not in Fort Lauderdale, it is in Lauderdale by The Sea on the A1A north of Commercial. Well worth the dive!

We highly recommend this restaurant.
