After reading the reviews for this restaurant, our group of 7 vacationing 50-something women were looking forward to an enjoyable, good quality meal here - we were very disappointed by both the quality of both the food and the service. Two of our meals (stuffed sole) were overcooked, dry, with burnt edges, and the shrimp stuffing lacked shrimp! Three of our meals (grilled jumbo shrimp) were served cold and after a requested reheat, only the plate was hot. Our waitress was less than attentive and twice, we had to call upon another waitress for service. The atmosphere was noisy and interfered with conversation. Based on our experience here, I can't recommend this seafood restaurant. There have got to be other choices in the Ft. Lauderdale area that provide an experience to match the upscale price of the Sea Watch.

Group of 7 went on a Monday night and had no trouble making a reservation for 7PM. We sat outside in the porch area. The food was amazing and the service was very good. We began with the seafood tower (oysters on the half shell, crab legs, shrimp, ceviche and lump crab) that had a great presentation and was so tasty everyone wanted more. Three people had the seawatch medley and all agreed it was the best seafood dish they've had, especially the lobster. The key lime pie was also excellent.

In a beautiful seaside location(in an old- looking, 2 storied seacaptain's rustic style building) enjoy a whole one and half pound Maine lobster dinner/corn- on- the- cob and choice of potato or rice and many other select delicious dinners complete with two kinds of hot bread, salad, dessert , hot coffee or tea for under $20.00 pp cannot be beat! Just be there between 5pm and 6pm and put your name on their list - the weekends can become quite crowded so be aware of that- also fun place to have a frozen mixed drink on their spacious patio in the back overlooking the only dunes in the Pompano Beach/ Lauderdale- By- The- Sea area. (very northern Ft.Lauderdale). I say a great value because just the whole lobster as an ala carte entree is listed as $38.00 on their huge menu! Their reputation speaks for itself! This early dinner is available from summer to Christmas .

Interesting to read some of the other reviews on here..

I have had the pleasure of eating at some fantastic little seaside restaurants all over the world (mostly around Europe), and whilst i would agree that the food here is of good quality, it is not the finest of seafood quality.

There is an excellent selection of seafood and other dishes, and it is not ridiculously overpriced given the quality and fantastic location and view. We were staying in Lauderdale by the Sea, and its just a casual 20min walk from there to the Sea Watch.

We had the calamari to start (a large portion which was more than the two of us could finish) and then fish dishes each. Good overall quality, fairly attentive staff and a good wine list to choose from, but the cooking of the fish was a little disappointing, with both dishes slightly overdone. The fish was also not "fresh from the net", and tasted more like fine quality supermarket produce.

Dont get me wrong, this is a good quality sea-food restaurant, which i would definitely visit again if on vacation in Lauderdale, but dont go there expecting your socks to be blown off...
