I took my family to TruLuck's the other night and it was a fantastic experience! The hostess was beyond helpful getting us a table to accommodate all 7 of us! The food was soo good, my favorite app was the tuna tartar. I was very impressed with the presentation, it was in layers with seaweed salad, crab, avocado and topped with tuna severed with shrimp chips which I loved! I will definitely be going back with in the week :)

A year ago we had a terrible all you can eat stone crab dinner at Truluck's and decided to go this year for their Date Night $39 price fixed dinner, including soup/salad, entree, dessert. It was incredible and I highly recommend it. Including tip the bill for two with drinks and shared appetizer (hot & crispy shrimps -excellent - $14) came to $180 plus $8 for valet parking. Wine by the bottle is way overpriced so we settled for 'by the glass $7' after mixed drinks to start. For the Date Night special we had Caesar and gumbo soup - both nice. For entree we had 5 oz fillet with garlic mashed potatoes, and apple scallops - both entrees superb. Dessert for two was molten chocolate cake...a huge very moist and tasty cake with chocolate syrup and ice cream in a chocolate cup - best ever. Coffee was strong -just the way I love it.

I haven't been there in a year because of lousy stone crabs, but after this meal we'll be there next week again. The piano player/singer in the bar was wonderful, but the full bar of people were talking so loud it was hard to hear the singer or table conversations.

My husband was craving stone crabs and we chose Truluck's because it was convenient. The room is very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was not nearly as busy as the others at the Galleria Mall. We were seated at a comfortable corner banquette and didn't immediately realize that it was next to the door to the kitchen. As the restaurant filled up, a constant parade of servers and busboys made for constant motion past our table.
The server was very pleasant at first and quickly took our order. Salad (the Sonoma) soon arrived and was fine - small amounts of goat cheese, candied pecans and field greens. However, after 20 minutes we were looking for the waitress to find out where the entrees were. Stone crabs are served cold and scallops do not take very long to prepare. The manager walked by and seemed oblivious to our problem. Finally we flagged down the waitress and she went to check, returning with our order. The scallops were underdone, the asparagus tough and tasteless and the mashed potatoes lukewarm and pasty. The stone crabs were very good and should be at $42 for 8 medium ones. The server never checked back to see how everything was and again had to be flagged down and asked to cook the scallops through. Ten minutes passed before they were returned by the manager. All he asked was whether we wanted to order another glass of wine. By now the waitress sensed we were not happy and barely made eye contact with us for the rest of the evening.
We finished dinner and sat for quite a while before one of the many passing busboys noticed the dirty dishes on his way to the kitchen and cheerfully cleared the table. We opted to have our dessert wrapped but the chocolate cake we took home was not worth the calories.
Unfortunately this was a real disappointment with an expensive price tag.

Got a table outside with a promise of heater = despite several requests heating did not materialise.
Waiter was pretty hopeless but friendly. Food was very very good.
I would give it another chance in the hope that we would be inside and have slick efficient service.

Truluck's was walking distance from the hotel so we gave it a shot since Capital Grille was booked up. Ambiance of the restaurant is very trendy and piano player was superb. Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Two of us ordered the center cut filet-one had a nice crust cooked to perfection, the other did not have a crust and over cooked. Side veggies of brussell sprouts had potential if they had not been drenched in soy sauce. Medium stone crabs were very disappointing as we had previously been wowed by Joe's Stone Crabs in Miami. They were cracked and bits of shell and ice got stuck in our teeth trying to find the pieces of crab. Not enjoyable trying to find the crab and worry about choking on shell bits.
