Since it was too windy to spend time on the beach we were looking for something to do for the day. Someone had told us to take a tour of the canals and we chose this one. The Jungle Queen was a comfortable ride and our guide had great delivery with her canned guide kitschy jokes and all. The alligator "wrestling" was simply a demonstration of handling the animals in a docile environment. I was slightly disturbed by the meager pen they were in as well as the limited rather still water they had. The island was clean and the other animal's pens were well kept. The amount of time on the island was just enough as there wasn't too much to see.
Thank goodness there was a bar on board, we were able to drink the kitsch away. While it was windy on the beachside we hardly noticed it in the canals and only had a quick stray shower dampen our trip.
Not sure young kids would appreciate the trip out to the island but they would enjoy the short visit to see the animals there. It was a good way to while away the afternoon, see all the amazing mansions and yachts and imagine yourself in one.
