During our stay at the W, we decided to have a meal at 954 because we'd heard many good reviews. We eat at Steakhouses regularly so were were really looking forward to trying this place out.
First of all, if it's a nice night, you definitely must sit at a table outside. It doesn't get much better than eating a great mean while looking out at the ocean.
Our young and knowledgeable server was friendly and eager to tell us the different cuts and kinds of meat they serve. We both settled on our usual - filet mignon along with a wedge salad to start and the usual veg sides. The salad was unexceptional- the very light (as opposed to the usual thick and creamy in most steakhouses) blue cheese dressing throwing it all a bit off. But whatever disappointment we had in the salad, it was more than made up for with the main course. Our steaks were both cooked to perfection, and my friend's foie gras topping added a decadent extra to an already rich and tender piece of meat. The steak was so tender you barely had to use the knife to cut it.
We were much too full for dessert, so I can't let you know about those- but as far as the restaurant goes, it's a beautiful atmosphere with excellent food. As I mentioned, we were guests of the hotel so I was able to look in on the restaurant most nights, and it was always busy, which is a good sign. Although we sat outdoors to enjoy the view, the inside of the restaurant is lovely too. I loved the famed Jellyfish aquarium which you can't miss as you walk in.
Service was excellent throughout. If you're looking for a romantic evening, or a place to go with a work colleague or client on the beach, look no further. This is definitely a very high end, beautifully designed place that could more than hold it's own with the best steakhouses around the world.
