This hotel should be closed!!! We went there on one of those TimeShare/Cruise schemes... The rooms were NASTY (we asked to be transferred to a "cleaner" room after the initial check in and it was worse), food was horrible, Customer Reps and Front Desk are very rude... Please do not stay there. If the Cruise company is sending you there, pay for an upgrade to a better hotel...

Room Tip: There are NO good rooms at the Ramada Plaza.

We prepaid for a non smoking twimw room, however, when we arrived there was only a smoking room or a double bed room.
Reception said theres nothing they can do.
The reception staff didnt have a clue what he is doing so he had to ask his colleague for a help every minute. We waited for a check in for 30min and didnt get a room we paid for .

In addition, this hotel is not so close to the FLL airport.

Ramada Plaza Hotel
It’s normally a three stars. I cote it under that.
Food is OK, if you search enough in the buffet. Supper may be good, it depends of your luck; we had it once, it was OK.
Cleanliness: OK, though it smells like an overwhelming cheap Russian perfume on the hallways.
Nice pool and spa, though. Free parking, which is a plus!
In the rooms, old furniture, and bathrooms. The shower worked at 40%. The TV is not of much use…
To avoid!

First, they caught me with a political phone survey (it was the electoral campaign in Canada…). They were smart! The questions were really political, and… seemed real. Then, they said, if you want to hear something about a vacation prize, stay online. The deal seemed too good to be true, but they gave me the possibility to check online that it wasn’t a robbery. So I bought the package: 2 nights at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and two nights on a cruise ship to Bahamas and back, food included, for two people – 218 $ (USD, as the future numbers), plus some (unspecified) dispenses (they mentioned taxes…). It seemed OK. The seller: Caribbean Cruise Line.
Then, after a while I decided that I’d go with some friends, four people in total. So, I paid an upgrade for the cabin (on the ship): another 200$ + 25$ insurance. At reservation I’d have also to pay an additional 129 $ per person.
In the mean while my friends begun stressing me with the timeshare scheme. I told them, it shouldn’t be the case, they never mentioned about such thing.
Well, when we decided the dates, it was a hustle to have the right spelling of names (which was never accurate, even with the radio alphabet) and the right dates.
(We also reserved several other hotels before and after this package.)
Two weeks prior to departure I received “the itinerary”. It was the first time when they mentioned about “the tour of the vacation village”.
Well, we finally arrived, the 28th of December (2013) after five o’clock PM, at the “welcome centre” at Ramada Plaza in Fort Lauderdale. The feared scheme was true, as they explained right away. Another problem was that one of us was in limbo, due to a possible need for Bahamian visa. (Even if I called the Bahamian consulate months ago and they said there’s no need). Too late to call at the company which sold the package – Caribbean Cruise Line, not for visa, not for the f..ing “tour”. We finally obtained un emergency number, we were able to obtain an answer regarding the visa (“not necessary”) and to postpone “the tour” – which proved to be mandatory, or better said, our cruise tickets depended on it! A shock…
So, in the day of the postponed “tour” we had to leave the hotel at 7:45 AM (it was the day of the cruise).
OK, OK you’re impatient to know…
Well, I spoke with a supervisor, telling him that this scheme is cheap, unadvertised and we’re not interested! He convinced me that if we leave without doing it we lose our cruise, that they surely mentioned it somewhere during our phone conversation, I just didn’t pay attention. And that they are sure that the Attorney general approved it!
Even if they did, they call it a “tour”, I said, which means “a journey of pleasure in which several objectives are visited”, it is NOT a selling conference, it is not a “conversion” to a new religion or a new concept session! And we’re not interested, anyway! Unsuccessfully, we had to attend.
It is a humiliating experience, we never found the time longer in our lives! Yes, they showed us two of theirs buildings, one (for which we spent 1,5 hours) just to show that it was Sold OUT!!
More, at the end, when the woman kept insisting and we kept going mad, I begged her to stop. She didn’t! Even more, her boss (a big guy, like 6’4”) came with an intimidating attitude (which drove me even crazier) telling us that they hear 1000 “no’s” daily and they have 1001 signatures! I told them “if it was true, you wouldn’t recourse to such low means to get us there”! “Don’t listen, than”, he said…
IT WAS ridiculous! We got out around noon, tired and angry.
Well, in addition to this humiliation, we had to pay: taxes (30 $) for the rooms and taxes plus tips for the food, at Ramada Plaza; for the cruise: Wait Staff and Housekeeping Service = 12$, plus 9$ fuel surcharge for each, per day, i.e. 168$ prior to boarding.
So the “Caribbean Cruise Line package” was finally around 900 $. Some may think that’s not so bad. Us, we think it was one lesson for a lifetime!
