If you love historic places, you will love this place. We liked walking the grounds and seeing all the plants and water gardens,

This is the home of a unique artist. The tour was really interesting. I learned a lot about the man, his art, and his place in Ft. Lauderdale.

By world standards, south Florida has little in the way of "history", but the Bonnet House gives visitors a glimpse of what life was like for wealthy families in the early 1900s. The house is beautiful and well-maintained and the gardens provide a calm atmosphere for a pleasant stroll. It's hard to believe that the hustle and bustle of A1A and the beach are a stone's throw from the museum and gardens. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and provide insight into life at the time. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of the monkeys that make the gardens their home.

At first we thought 20$ was a bit steep for a "just a tour" of the house. But after more than a hour with our guide we are sure its worth every penny. We were in a small group (4 people) and the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide gave us a very extensive insight in the history of the place. It must be great to work at a place that is still adding to the vast collection. The park was great to walk through and one of the volunteers took time out to point out some of the particular trees. To bad I wasn't allowed to take the Cadillac for a spin ;-)

The house is very interesting, with a lovely courtyard. It is an oasis, right in Ft. Lauderdale. The grounds are not fancy.
