“Great place for a Party”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I attended an 80th Birthday party this past weekend at the Riverside hotel. The food was amazing, nice carving stations, no rubber chicken here! Creative deserts, a nice ballroom with a magnificent view from the terrace! Super friendly staff made for a great party, highly recommend the hotel for accommodation or an event.

I loved this little hotel in the heart of Las Olas and I have to say I loved everything about it but I have to thank Terry she was working when I called to inquire the day before my trip and she checked us in and was so helpful and kind what a great lady. We will be coming back to this place you can't go wrong here

Room Tip: the new building has rooms with balconies and a view

We stayed 2 nights over a weekend at the Riverside. It's a great central location on Las Olas Blvd near many shops and restaurants. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very friendly hotel staff that went out of their way to be helpful. Having a choice between parking our rental in a multi level enclosed garage across the street ($17 / night) or hotel valet parking ($23 / night) we chose the valet which was great. The valet staff were friendly and fast at helping us upon arrival, departure, and anytime in between. Because we had heavy rains on Saturday it was great using the awning on departure/arrival to avoid getting soaked.

Front desk staff were so friendly and helpful, all staff was very professional. Chamber maids greeted you with good morning, good afternoon, etc. The hotel restaurant and bar staff... awesome.

The hotel has an old and new section. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the new section. We stayed in room 326 which faced Las Olas Blvd, but not "on" the blvd. While the rooms are a little smaller than I'm used to in newer hotels there certainly was plenty of room and the needed amenities. Rooms were very clean and fresh smelling. Bed was very comfortable, pillows as well. Plenty of drawer space for clothes, TV, mini bar, safe box, good size closet, iron and board, blow dryer was missing but quickly taken care of by chamber maid. Bathrooms very clean. The shower was a little strange in that the shower head was chest level on a removable hose (maybe because old building, plumbing easier to add shower head with hose instead of adding pipe??) In any event, being 6'2" i wasn't thrilled at first but it actually worked out fine. Only thing I would suggest to the hotel is to add some hooks on the door or wall of the bathroom because there are no countertops to put clean clothes or a robe on. Hooks would help. Also, air condition worked extremely well and was pretty quiet. We didn't get to use the pool but it was nice. It's in a gated area across the street in the back of the hotel right on the river.

We had breakfast in the airconditioned portion of the restaurant one day and outside on the street the other. I like outside better, but inside is nice too. More activity going on outside and the ceiling fans give you air circulation and a nice tropical atmosphere. Southwestern Wrap was great (eggs, chorizo, avocado, tomato wrapped in a tortilla) Yum! The roasted potatoes are awesome, too. Wait staff were very nice and attentive. Riverside bar is fun for a nightcap. Sit outside and watch the nightlife on the blvd.

Timpano's is an excellent restaurant within walking distance (North) on Las Olas Blvd. Friday nights feature Danny Brown (and I think Mon and Weds), an awesome jazz singer that got everyone up dancing. The Grilled mussels and meatball appetizers are a must have! There is a great Italian bakery across the street with gelato.

Try Riverside Hotel... we will again!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I have lived in the Las Olas area for months and decided to stay at the Riverside Hotel. It was worth the experience. The service is great and the location is even greater for those who want to walk to restaurants and bars.

During our next stay, I will be sure to stay in the towers and to get a room with a view.

Room Tip: Stay in the newer side (towers with a view).

This is a lovely hotel. The room in the Executive Tower has a great view with a large bathroom.
It is in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale situated close to the beach and numerous eateries.
In fact, it is actually located on the fabulous Las Olas Boulevard where you can walk the street and hear live music and "shop till you drop". The hotel's front desk staff is very friendly and readily provides information for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: I suggest the Executive Tower.

Friendly staff, great location on Las Olas. Restaurants & shopping right outside your door. Water taxi stop behind the hotel. Discounts on drinks & dining at hotel. Grab a drink from the Golden Lion in a to go cup for your water taxi commute. We stayed in the tower, 12th floor with balcony. Had a great view of the Intracoastal & Atlantic in the distance. Big room, clean. We will be back fore sure.

We've stayed here 5 times over the last 10 years. It's our 'go to' location when we want to get away from things and relax. We sit by the pool, right on the waterway, and watch the million $ yachts go by and say "Yeah, I'd get that one". You're right on Las Olas Blvd, the haute couture area of Ft Lauderdale. Very interesting shops and restaurants are all right there. You can catch the water taxi nearby and hit all the other cool places in the area, including pier 66 and the new mall, or just relax & ride for a semi-guided tour of the waterways. The 'old' rooms are well appointed, quaint and comfortable (our favorite) and we'll try a tower room on our next visit. So sit by the pool with room service drinks or cruise the town, it's all right here. Too bad O'Hara's Jazz had to move farther away a few years ago - it has world class jazz every week - so just take a cab (or you can walk if you want) and check it out.

Room Tip: Executive Tower rooms are much newer and can offer a higher view of the river area. The old section...
