We were surprised to learn that the Stranahan house is the oldest structure in Ft. Lauderdale, The doscent who did our guided tour actually made the house come alive as if Frank and Ivy Stranahan were right there with us. She shared so much history with us and took time to answer all our questions. We felt as though we were back in early 1900's as our tour guide Merry entertained us with her knowledge about not only the house, but the family themselves. The house is a "Must See"... Ask for the doscent "Merry" as she was so interesting and took time in each and every room of the house as she guided all of the guests on the tour. You will not be disappointed and we cannot wait to go to the Halloween River Ghost tour!!!

It was hard to find and parking is limited, but well worth it. We enjoyed touring through the house and learning about the history behind it. Loved the wood, which is everywhere, and the views from all the windows.

I have visited the Stranahan House several times with friends and family. It is a nice piece of Florida history. I have also taken the ghost tour on Sunday night, which I highly recommend. I did not see any ghosts, however, seeing the house and the river at night added a different perspective to the view of Fort Lauderdale's past.

Very interesting history about this "old house" which I won't share here. Very nice, friendly tour guide (very informative) and nice ground's people. Our tour came with a boat tour which was colorful (because it was at night) and pretty. I'd go there again if my visiting friends or relatives wanted to go.

This historic house represents the start of the history of Fort Lauderdale, where its owner Frank Stranahan first came to settle. He, and later with his wife, made a big contribution to the development of the area. The full story was very well delivered by our guide and during our hour long tour she gave us an excellent insight into the life and times of the house & family. The house has been well restored and allowed us an authentic understanding of how life was then. We rang ahead to ensure space was available on one of the hourly afternoon tours. We were allowed to park for free in the grounds of the house
