Having heard so much about a "must see" Las Olas Riverfront we decided to make an afternoon of it. If it had not been for the nearby Las Olas Blvd, this would have been a real waste of time. The surroundings are beautiful with a great boardwalk along the river and a marina with large luxury yachts and a few nice restaurants.. So what's the problem? The entire place is practically deserted. Most shops closed down since the US economy went downhill and what must have once been alive and vibrant is now mostly a "ghost town". Such a shame. There are however some restaurants which have survived and food is generally good although a bit pricey and the Museum of Discovery and Science. Access is easy via road or "Water taxi".
Go to Las Olas BLVD. instead, where you'll find much more life and entertainment (a 10 minute walk east)
