Children love this museum because it is very hands on. I've loved it for over 40 years! I even take friends from out of town (adults) here because it is a fun place to learn about South Florida (there is more to FL than bars and beach!). My favorite exhibit is the Otters. Joey the Otter didn't know how to swim when he first came to the Museum but learned right before the exhibit opened. The otters are most active around lunch time and great fun to watch. Most of the volunteers love to talk and explain different aspects of different exhibits, so be sure to engage them. I make sure my out of town guest experience the hurricane force winds in the weather section. There is a Subway off the lobby and a great gift shop. The IMAX theater is great.

We read some reviews before going and I'm shocked at the negativity. We found the museum to be very interactive and engaging. Staff were frequently making rounds to make sure everything was working properly. We found a wide range of activities for our children (ages 1.5-almost 8). I do recognize that some of the areas could use a good scrubbing, but with thousands of tiny dirty hands, I get it.

My 7 1/2 year old loved this very interactive museum! Can easily spend two hours here. This is a great rainy day activity for Fort Lauderdale. FYI - they have reciprocity with several children museums around the country for free admission.

We went to the Dinosaurs Imax 3D show. It was very educational and very nicely done. By the end of the movie we would thank Dinosaurs for their sacrifice to make path for the human beings. Museum was great and very educational especially for kids. A must go if you are in that area.

This was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. All of the exhibits are indoors, which was nice. Be sure to ride on the Everglades airboat ride. This museum had something for everyone. My 2 and 5 year old sons could have spent the entire day here. My husband and his 60 year old father loved the flight simulator, while my 85 year old grandma enjoyed "riding" to Mars.
