I love this museum, I've visited twice with my 4 year old and each time we've all had a blast. Its very interactive and features a couple of fun rides and just so much stuff to see. There is also a great Imax theater. Its great for children and adults.

Weekends are the best time to visit this museum as there are no large school groups passing through the exhibit areas. This museum is moving in 2015 to its new location, but I have to say the old location is pretty awesome as it is. It is easy to find, has plenty of parking in nearby garages ($), and there is a small park right across the street. Sometimes there are activities going on in the park that you can tie into your visit as well. During our last visit, the Stone Crab and Seafood Festival was in the park--what a great place to visit for lunch before returning to the museum for more fun! There is also a Subway within the museum complex, that serves sandwiches and pizzas by the slice or by the pie, if you have a lot of hungry mouths to feed). The new Everglades Adventure ride was so much fun that we got off and got back in line to do it again! The same for the Mars Rover ride upstairs. I highly recommend it for it's excitement and humor of the video they show during the ride. The IMAX theater is fantastic too for an additional fee, if you have the time to enjoy it in your day. Definitely do not miss the Otter exhibit. It's a big hit with toddlers and preschoolers who can stand right next to the glass and watch the otter zoom right by them on the other side of the glass. :)

We like to visit the museum on every trip to Florida, and this year we were not disappointed. This is such a well kept museum, and the new exhibits are really superb. The addition is complete and exploring the "Everglades" was never this much fun. There is even an "Airboat Adventure" (albeit virtual) included in your admission. Give yourself about 3 hours for this gem of a museum, and make sure you dont miss any areas. My daughter particularly liked broadcasting herself on the news while "Covering a hurricane." I am not going to lie, I did it as well. It was really fun. Give yourself some time to just watch the Otters swim, they were very entertaining. Dont forget there are numerous IMAX movies throughout the day, and the combo ticket will save you money.

I have made several trips here with my children, and as part of their school field trips. Most recently, we had a special overnight trip for the school and had the privilege of "camping out" in the facility. The staff was phenomenal and kept the kids engaged throughout the trip. The majority of exhibits feature a hands-on experience. The 3-D IMAX shows have all been amazing. The otter show was a big hit. The kids loved the Hurricane center where they could experience winds up to about 74 mph and put on a news cast using a green screen background. The Mars Rover ride could use an update, but the Everglades simulated airboat ride made up for it.
