We had an evening flight out of Fort Lauderdale and decided that we could have lunch and spend our Saturday afternoon at the Riverwalk and area attractions. The area is very pretty but it was desolate with the exception of a random tourist or two, the homeless people on the park benches and a group of skateboarders. There was no panhandling or aggressive behavior that I saw. There were a couple of restaurants along the waterfront. The gazebo in front one of the restaurants was inhabited by sleeping homeless people. The stores were all vacant so, if you go, don't expect to do any shopping.
