The Riverwalk area is a pleasant way to spend a bit of time strolling around, people watching, watching the boats, browsing in shops ... something a bit different to do if you are tired of the beach but don't feel like going back to the hotel. We grabbed some slices of pizza at Riverfront Pizza, and later some coffee/icecream and just took a stroll up and down the sidewalks. We were there in late December 2007 and there were some nice Christmas lights still up, it was quaint and pretty. Our kids enjoyed watching a street artist perform in the courtyard-type area while we were there.

By using Riverwalk, you can get around to different downtown attractions without having to walk city sidewalks.

It's nicely landscaped and has areas you can sit down, and some shade. Gives more of a garden feel to your walk.

We visited Riverwalk around 8PM on a Saturday in May 2007. Most shops were closed/closing and there were a lot of thuggish people roaming about. A few restaurants were open on the dock's edge, but they were very noisy and going into disco mode for the evening. Not suitable for a quiet dinner. The worst part was paying the garage $7 for 5 minutes of parking. It's not pro-rated, so you're trapped as soon as you drive into the facility.

We really enjoyed the shopping and ambiance of the Las Olas area. The Riverwalk area was a pleasant addition to this. We enjoyed an early evening stroll on the waterway and then we caught the water taxi. Finished off the night with dinner and a movie... and all in one location. There are several restaurants and some outside entertainment on the weekends. Weather was great! All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

Just returned from Ft. Lauderdale. The riverwalk area was ok. There is a nice path to walk on along the river. The shopping is not much. A few kiosks open when we were there and also a few stores. The good deal was that a nice restaurant was having a lunch special. Anything on the menu only $3.99. I had a delicous salad with a beautiful piece of salmon on the top for $3.99. A good place to spend an hour or so.
