This little oasis discovered thanks to tripadvisor!! We did not go on the Ocean side. But took advantage of the inshore fishing oppurtunity on the ICW side. Easy wading, lots of fish spotted Tarpon jumping. They have Kayaks and for rent( but we stayed on shore. With all the natural beauty, the park was SPOTLESS. Being a fishing fiend, almost didn`t want to share this secret but good karma brings fish. I plan to go back with more time, and kayak out to that Tarpon!

We camped here for 10 days from 9/3-9/13/12, and were lucky enough to have scored a site on the oceanview side of the campground. There are approximately 34 camping sites at Gamble Rogers, most of them are a decent size for both campers and tents. The campground is clean, the comfort station (bathrooms) is very clean, and they also have two coin operated washers and onr dryer available. I was impressed to see the camp hosts (volunteers) come to each site after it was emptied to clean out the fire pit and rake the grounds for the next camper. These same hosts also keep the comfort station and surrounding areas clean on a daily basis. The campground itself is a wonderful place for singles, couples and families to enjoy, with the beach only a stone throw away. The beach itself is very clean and not crowded at all. On any given day, we may have seen twenty other people (at the most) on the beach enjoying the sun, sand, and surf. There is also an area several hundred feet down the beach for pets to run on, but that never interferes with this section of the beach. We have already made reservations for another ten day visit in May of 2013. If you decide to go to Gamble Rogers, be aware that reservations fill up quickly many months and sometimes, a year in advance.

Enjoy the wide sand beach and a walk through the local bush. . . nothing extraordinary though. Washington Oaks, a few miles North, is much more picturesque!

First off, the beach is stellar. During our visit, the water was just about as clear as the Carribean. But, the campground is lacking in some areas. There are NO trash cans thru the park, only one solitary dumpster at the entrance outside of the gate. So, if your site is at the other end of the park, you're storing garbage until you make the trip to the front! There aren't even cans at the restroom. There is one shower house for all 34 sites, so be patient. I will say, by far they were the cleanest showers I've seen at a campground. Most of the sites are pretty narrow and shallow, which is odd that they allow 2 vehicles per site, including a camper. There are only 2 sites that offer a beach view, since the rest of the beachfront sites have saw palmettos obstructing the view and breeze. And, if you need to use the dump station, be patient....the road thru the park is very narrow, and at checkout time can get busy with folks lined up to dump. The staff were friendly, but also a bit nit-picky (they told us to back our 16' camper by 1 foot). I'm glad I visited, but this campground won't be high on my list to re-visit.

Helpful, friendly staff. Wonderful inexpensive kayak and bike rentals available. Campsites right on the beach with clean showers and restrooms. What more could someone ask? Florida state parks are wonderful!
