Were it not for the roach on the back of my wooden bench booth seat, I would have liked Martins much better. The food was good and very reasonably priced, good portions. The atmosphere was simple and attracts large crowds

Filthy place, lousy food, and overpriced! The FL health department should inspect this place. Can't get any worse than this place.

we were driving up the coast to St. Augustine & were in the mood for clam chowder. it was
just random that we chose Martins. we had a lovely lunch & terrific staff. the clam chowder
was just what we had in mind, it was thick & nicely seasoned. the clams were so tender.
the house salad was fine, nothing special. we had the lunch special that included
shrimp, clams, scallop & flounder w/an order of fries. our total bill was $20. good food
& terrific value, all with an ocean view.

I am Afro American and my house guests are white. We went to Martins to get a seafood dinner on Monday since many other restaurants in Flagler County close on Mondays. A member of the party ordered a gator tail dish. It was server in a batter but the individual, having had the dish elsewhere, could find no evidence of gator in the batter. He very politely brought this to the attention of the server. She collected the dish and returned to tell him that the gator tail was grinded up into the batter. With no further conversation, she then presented us with a check for the soup and drinks. When asked what happened to our other orders, she said the cook who is also the restaurant owner told her to refuse use service.

I can't believe that a restaurant could survive with such a policy towards all customers so assumed that there was a racial component to the decision not to serve my party.
