That's what we did. We left the "resort" for a day of bike riding and decided we'd try Gourmet Gourmet for brunch and I'm glad we did. The food here isn't over fancy or complicated but if you want a hearty omelet in a relaxed atmosphere then this place is right for you. It doesn't look like much from the road and it's not too fancy inside but the food is good and that's what's really important.

I think they do most of their business for lunch and dinner but they also serve a limited breakfast menu beginning around 8:00. It was pretty quiet at mid-morning. We almost had the place to ourselves.

This was a nice place to stop for lunch, and enjoyed our meal. It appeared to be a spot frequented by locals as well as by tourists. The inside of the place is dominated by a large curving bar, with stool seating all around. There are also a number of outdoor and indoor tables for seating quite a few people.

The menu features a lot of sandwiches, wraps and salads, with many healthy options available. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, which was tasty right down to the pickle! The chips they pass out to you are not home made, but who cares? It was still a good lunch with large portions at a reasonable price. I do recommend this restaurant.

This little jewel is hard to see from the road, but hopefully you find it. We had been there years back and enjoyed it very much! A new owner has continued the quality with a few added enhancements on the menu. The chef James takes great pride in his cooking techniques and quality. They menu offers nice wines by the glass as well as a good selection of full bottles of wine and champagne, plus a nice selection of beers.
We were only in Amelia 4 days this trip and frequented Gourmet Gourmet 4 times, some for lunch, dinner and some for just a friendly place to have a glass of wine. There servers and owner are very interactive with the customers, especially us foodies that could talk forever about our passions! Nice menu selection, everything must be good on it!
We recommend this little casual-yet elegant restaurant of good eats!!

We ate here on a Saturday night around 8:30. There were 10 in our party. There was only one other couple there. They were out several things on the menu (scallops, fettuccine, short ribs). The staff was very friendly but the service was extremely...extremely slow. They did not have any options for children. They gave them full portions of capellini with a marinara that was not very good. The food did not all come out at the same time. Some entrees came out about 10 minutes after the first ones came out. We were basically the only ones in the restaurant. The restaurant temperature was also very hot. Despite this the food the adults had was excellent. The seafood and vegetable were very fresh. The entrées were well seasoned and tasted very good. This may be better as a lunch place versus dinner.

I'm very sorry that your experience was not the very best it could be and what we usually strive to deliver. Thank you very much for taking the time to give us some feedback though.

While you were our last table of the evening, we were quite busy earlier and what you wouldn't have known is that we were putting out about 20 to go orders as you were seated. Maybe we shouldn't have accepted that many orders when we knew we had a 10 TOP coming in. For that I am sorry.

It was also a very strange night in that almost everyone ordered the same thing. When we took inventory and put together our order for the weekend our concern actually was that we had to much scallops. We pride ourselves on selling only the freshest seafood locally sourced when ever possible. Therefore we only hold enough to get us to our next delivery date. We had no idea so many people would order scallops and short ribs that night. The short ribs take 9 hours to braise, so unfortunately if we didn't prep enough, there's not much we can do about it till the next day.

We do have a children's menu and this time of year get quite a few families. I saw your plates going out and yes, your children were served the adult portion of the pastas. You were only charged for the child portion though.

Lastly, the corner where you were seated can get a little stuffy when a large group is seated there. Next time we will seat you on the other side if the tables are available. There is much better air circulation over there.

We are very happy that you enjoyed your food though. That's always our objective. To serve the best cuisine on the island.

Our family had been here before and my memory was that it was pricey. We had the family dog with us and knew they had an outdoor patio so my wife suggested that we try Gourmet Gourmet again- if they permitted our dog that is. So we asked and the response was an emphatic yes. We soon learned that they not only permit dogs on the patio but seemed to enjoy them. Before I even sat down, the server brought a blue water bowl for our dog plus a few complimentary dog biscuits- a very nice touch that set the stage for a great lunch experience. (Note to non dog lovers- not to worry it wasn't like the patio was overrun by dogs. There were only 2 there and both well behaved with no negative effect on the other diners).

The food was very good and given the quality, I thought a good value. My wife had the quiche and she is still talking about the crust. She inquired about it and we all learned that it was home made. (Translation: get the quiche!) The kids ordered a variety of items and all were happy campers. We will be back- with or without the family pet.
