“Flavorful experience”
Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

We ate outside on the porch and enjoyed taking in the neighborhood. Short ribs and fried chicken were both excellent. Good wine list with uncommon selections to choose from. We also liked that much of the food is locally sourced. A definite must stop in Fernandina.

“A Top Pick in Fernandina Beach”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

29 South has a great reputation, and is among the most popular restaurants in town. The fanfare is well deserved. The menu is eclectic and offers good variety. The food is brilliant - catch of the day was a thick fillet, seared perfectly and moist and tender in the center -- not overdone as in most other restaurants in town. For beefeaters, the ribeye is a great cut of beef, large enough to serve 2. And the service was the best in town - attentive to every detail. Highly recommended, but good luck getting a table on the weekend!

“Good, but not special...”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Farm to Fork always entices us, so that was the draw to this cute old house turned into restaurant. The food was pretty good (B+ grade), bt the patio was not very appealing - even a few flowers or little decoration would have been nice, service was good, prices were moderately high.... it only serves wine and beer. Wasn't my favorite restaurant in town even though they are making a genuine effort to support local growers and bring local food to the diner, so I might find myself wanting to support the concept.

went to 29 south recently and was dissappointed had the fried chicken it was overcooked and under seasoned however the mashed potatoes were excellent and we also had the fish special much better with awesome mashed tators but at $ 28 was overpriced the service was also a little sketchy, its just too expensive to be this bad.
