A hidden gem recommended by friends serving delicious food in huge portions! Highly suggest the pulled pork with pimento cheese! Cannot wait to get back to Fernandina Beach and eat here again!

They have delicous BBQ. The amount you get when your order a rib or chicken plate is unbelievable! Real smoked BBQ with 3 great sauces to choose from. I've never had their salads but they look great. Their tree coverd patio is such a great place to sit and enjoy a meal!

As far as I know this is the only authentic BBQ restaurant on Fernandina-Amelia that serves woodfired BBQ (rather than oven baked or charcoal) - and it comes through in the taste. Pulled pork has a nice smoky flavor (although could use more smoke) and the taste will be pleasant to anyone. Strict North Carolina BBQ adherents will fault it for lack of spice/kick, Memphis folks will fault it for lack of tomato, Kansas City folks may want more rub flavor -- but everyone will enjoy it because it doesn't contain too much of anything. The sauce choices make up for everyone's taste preferences. The ribs were GREAT no matter your preference. Baked beans were delicious, white slaw was very tasty, and my wife loved the pimento cheese! Wait staff were pleasant and attentive, seating outside under covered awnings was very pleasant and clean.

The Happy Tomato is a great alternative to the pricier sit-down restaurants that make up the vast majority of this area of Fernandina Beach. They were very efficient, which is a big plus for me. I had the tomato sandwich one day (which was so-so) and the BBQ turkey another day.

In a quaint little courtyard with market umbrellas and babbling fountain, tucked away in Historic Fernandina Beach, is thee best locally owned and run sandwich cafe in town! Richard, the owner, smokes all of his own meats: pork, chicken, turkey and ribs. You can't go wrong with any choice, but my husband's favorite is the pulled pork with mustard b-b-q sauce. My favorite is their shrimp salad with a uniquely tangy potato salad on the side. Even their generous PB&J and homemade cookies are a big hit with our daughter. Everything is available for take-out by the pound...perfect for Sunday dinners when Mom doesn't want to cook or Dad wants to get out of barbequing! Lived here for 18 years and this is one of our all time favorites!!! You may have to ask a local for directions, but it's well worth the hunt.
