“Choo-choo!”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is a great property with a lot more charm than an average Hampton Inn. It's well-kept, immaculately-clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's on the water in the heart of downtown Fernandina Beach with lots of qauint restaurants within walking distance.
Be aware that there is a night train that runs directly adjacent to the hotel, so bring earplugs and you'll be OK.

Stayed here 1 night and it was a wonderful stay. They even upgraded us upon checkin to a suite. Front desk guy, Todd I think, was super helpful and very friendly, accomodating, etc. Even the fold out sofa was comfy. Excellent location to the main drag where all the restaurants are. Todd recommended a local place and we had an excellent meal. Got there early as suggested and glad we did. It was packed. Ciao Restaurant. The drive to the beach was about 1.5 miles straight down main street so very easy to get to and a very nice beach with soft white sand.

Room Tip: Ask for harbor view room.

Hubby and I stayed here while taking a mini vacation away from the kids. Pleasantly surprised by the spiral staircase entrance and holiday decorations which added a unique and charming touch. Our room had a king sized bed and a giant jetted whirlpool tub in the room backed by a large mirror. We also had a mini fridge and microwave. The fireplace was a welcome addition as it was a bit cold outside. We turned it on several times..especially after we came back from kayaking to Cumberland island. It runs on a dial timer which is a bit noisy but we got used to it. When we arrived a smoke alarm battery was beeping every few seconds so we called the front desk who came up within five minutes to fix it. After he left, it was still beeping so we realized it was another alarm somewhere..eventually my husband found it and removed the battery. The battery in the remote was dead also but my husband fixed that as well. The hotel was walking distance to the quaint downtown area of fernandina beach. We had dinner at Lulu's at the Thompson House and enjoyed walking around through the shops. The breakfast area at the Hampton was adorable. Located on the second floor with a seaside theme, we ate here two mornings. I love hampton's Belgian waffles! The second morning one of the waffle irons had waffle mix stuck in the iron and there was no spray anywhere like we are used to seeing. The kitchen help came out and said they are only allowed to spray the irons once. After another waffle had to be scraped off the iron I looked in the cabinets below the bar, found the spray and sprayed it myself before making another waffle. All in all, the stay was very nice. The price was reasonable in comparison to most of the nearby bed and breakfasts.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. While booking online, the price difference was $10 and well wo...

We had a 2nd floor suite with a view of the harbor. The town is great for walking around, the harbor is very pretty. Breakfast buffet was great, the dining room had a view of the pool (too bad it is outside and the weather was too cold to swim!) Nicest dining room we have seen yet, with a standard waffle maker and fixings. Bedding was outstanding , very clean and fluffy blankets. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I liked the view of the harbor, (versus the parking lot) , the room was quiet and we slept well. THe...

We thought this was a great place to stay. Wish we didn't have cold temps and blustery wind, but they couldn't help that. Nice bag of goodies for our canine companion! Would stay here again if needing lodging in the area.

Very nice Hampton Inn right in the heart of downtown Amelia Island. Great place to park the car and walk around exploring. Lots of cute shops and great restaurants. The hotel lobby and breakfast area are very nice. The rooms were clean and large. Only complaint is that our room was on the harbor side of the hotel and was a little loud due to the boats coming in and out. Next time, we will ask for a room away from the water. On weeknights they have a small manager's reception with free appetizers from a local restaurant and beer and wine for purchase. Very reasonable $2 beer and $3 wine. Nice little break before heading out to explore.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the harbor, which will be quieter.

The hotel was in a really great location, very clean, and very friendly staff. The only thing negative I can possibly say is that with our room on the 3rd floor, it was "stuffy", even with the air on. Everything else was great about our stay. The free breakfast was o.k., but we've had a lot worse, so all-in-all, not bad!

Room Tip: Maybe the lower floor rooms would be less "stuffy" and the breakfast was free, but average...
