“A Beautiful Hotel and a Beautiful Birthday Weekend”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

The Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island is a wonderful hotel. We went for my birthday weekend and enjoyed the beach and the hotel. The rooms are spacious, the bed was luxurious, and the service was top notch. Don't forget to tell the hotel if you are celebrating something special, because they will make it special for you. Make sure to have dinner at Salt!!

Room Tip: Make sure to let the hotel know if you are celebrating a special occasion.

My husband and I were at the Ritz-Carlton recently as he attended a conference there for a few days. We were expecting a comfortable, quiet, luxury hotel catering to adults. Unfortunately, this hotel was hosting a large number of families and the result was a noisy and crowded atmosphere. The employees were, to a fault, solicitous and concerned with our welfare, but the facilities were not up to the task of offering separate adult and family areas. There were not enough places to eat on-site and the only high-end restaurant was booked for our entire stay so we had to venture into town for a special meal. The walls were thin when the children next door were crying and even the door to the hallway was inadequate to block all the noise outside our door. We have several grandchildren and don't begrudge anyone taking a family vacation, but perhaps a condo or house rental would have been more appropriate for many of the other guests--and for us!

If you are looking to take your special someone to a beautiful property that's secluded with a private beach EXPERIENCE superb service while remaining close to historic district and sailing/fishing charters-- this Ritz does it's name proper. Take a brand new BMW of your choice for a 3 hour test drive anywhere your heart desires on this beautiful island under a canopy of lush trees and tropical nature. Rooms have been updated with crisp citrus and beach color! Bedding was wonderful and room service was fast, food prepared to specification. If you want to take your family for an extraordinary 4th of July-- this is the place to be! Planned activities for kids are fantastic day and evening! Slip away for a 90 minute couples message and then relax at the private adult pool like a true celebrity! Fireworks are the best ever at the annual BBQ which includes patriotic tribute to our military and live music! Excellent staff!

Room Tip: Higher floors featuring central and unobstructed panoramic view of the ocean

I've stayed at this resort multiple times and it's always been 100% First Class. This time we went to the spa and it's HUGE! Well worth the money if you have time to enjoy the private spa areas.
The staff is always very professional and friendly.

WE also had dinner @ Salt, their five star and flagship restaurant. It was a great experience.

Room Tip: Ocean View is a must!

For our 8th anniversary in late summer 2012, we decided to tour up the coast from St Augustine, FL to Savannah, GA. The first night we spent at the Casa Monica in St. Augustine, and from there we drove north to Amelia Island's Ritz-Carlton, and finally on up to Savannah's "Mansion on Forsyth". It was pouring rain when we arrived at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton, and its grounds looked and felt like a luscious tropical garden. The staff greeted us warmly with a glass of champagne and immediately made us feel that our visit and comfort were of paramount importance to them. The spacious suite was richly tasteful and charming, not "artistically cold" like some 4 and 5 star resorts. Despite the rain, we were able to sit out on our private, really huge and luxurious, partially covered balcony and watch the ocean storm and gorgeous waves. We were rapt in a special world watching the sky and water and appreciating the cool ocean breeze when staff showed up with a complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary.
My husband and I agreed that staff could not have possibly done things better on our stay.
There are several other large resorts on Amelia Island, but we agreed that we would choose the Ritz-Carlton again. We are not rich, but travel a bit, and can afford to give hotels only one chance to impress us. The ones who make outstanding efforts, like the Ritz-Carlton, deserve repeat business and loyal word of mouth referrals.

Room Tip: Their restaurant, "Salt", was not quite as we expected, but good.

We arrived for a seminar, and the hotel had no power for several hours. The staff was so accommodating, doing anything the could to make the experience as painless as possible. During the evening meal I had a different request for my entree and asked for a wine other than what was being served. both requests were met with a smile and were executed perfectly. This hotel deserves to be a Ritz.

The choices for a memorable time on Amelia Island are somewhat limited but the recently made changes made by the new management team at the Ritz Carlton narrowed those choices to one place, the Ritz Carlton. The hotel has a commanding position on the shorelines of this beautiful historical barrier island, but position is not all when it comes to an hotel with such prestigious legacy of high level quality service. Yet in the past few years the hotel went somewhat dormant on the quality of service which distinguishes every Ritz Carlton. As decades resident and visitor on the island I am pleased to say this has changed. The Ritz Carlton Amelia Island has re-set the compass on quality and is redefining exceeding customer expectation into loyalty. They have mine and my friends who recently enjoyed their stay. The recently appointed GM, has truly made miracles in such short time. Every aspect of the service has been elevated to the highest quality. The restaurant "4750" has a new menu with a excellent selection and accompanying that is a superb service. When visiting the restaurant if possible ask for Thomas, a superb waiter with an excellent knowledge of the menu and the suited wines. An unprecedented experience at this hotel. The outdoor food outlets are great for snacks or light fares while enjoying the great pool and beach areas. Whatever you are planning a family me or able time, or a corporate gathering do not hesitate this is the place to be. My personal congratulations to Mr. McManemon and his great team for the wonderful and remarkable turnaround. Visit and younwill want to go back time over time!

Room Tip: Ocean front are the best but any room in the south tower are great
