Everything was full of flavor starting with the hot tea. Nothing we had was bad. There were four of us with four different orders. It all came out together and everything was hot. We all will go back again.

"Asian Fusion" cuisine has many dishes familiar to Asian food gourmands but with a Thai twist. Jade East (a.k.a. Jade's Bistro) in an Amelia Island strip mall has just the right blend of American/Chinese, Korean and Southeast Asian flavors. The hot and sour soup has the right amount of heat, but the Tom Yum soup goes a step better. The yellow and red curry dishes are features here with a choice of protein. If you like sweets go for the Mango Shrimp. Lemon grass seasoning, absent in many southeast Asian establishments, is prevalent here. They have a "health recipe" menu for the weight conscious. Go for the steamed shrimps, scallops, asparagus and shiitake mushroom combination with the house's special ginger sauce.Decor a bit cliche but the service is attenitve, especially if Jade herself is in the house. (Take out, also.)

Jade's is the kind of Chinese restaurant every community desires. Food is fresh and service is polite and efficient. Daily specials for $10.95 offer an extensive array of shrimp or fish or chicken or vegetable entree, choice of soup or salad, choice of rice. We sampled two shrimp dishes on one visit and a chicken and mixed vegetable dish on another visit. All were well executed and presented beautifully on our plates. Wine is offered by the glass as well as by the bottle. Atmosphere is casual and the restaurant is located in the corner of a popular strip mall. This is a "return to" restaurant for us.

We live nearby and eat here regularly, most always choosing from their reasonably-priced lunch or dinner menus, but with the excellent whole-fried fish an occasional selection from their full dinner menu. The offerings are more "Pan-Asian" than typical Chinese, and all are prepared quickly and well, with the egg drop soup being a particular favorite. The decor is muted and attractive.

We're a bit wary of "sweet" items which may be too much so for our tastes, and we've learned to avoid the cough syrup-like fountain Diet Coke, but otherwise recommend Jade Bistro highly.

We ordered a carry-out order on Christmas Day for my family. My cousins and I were told it would be ready in 30 minutes over the phone. Got there 30 minutes later and ended up having to wait an additional half hour for our food.

Also, there was no one at the front register/greeting area. Other people came in for sit-down service and had to wait far too long to be seated. I understand that it was Christmas Day and they were probably understaffed, but any restaurant should always, ALWAYS, have someone at the front of the house to greet and help guests.

The food was okay. The crab rangoon and the dumplings were pretty good, all of the other dishes we ordered were average.

In short, the service was poor and our wait time for the food was innacurate and too long. I will not be going back to this restaurant.
