“Awesome first time experience at a B&B!!”
Reviewed September 16, 2011

My boyfriend and I decided to stay on Amelia Island for a couple nights during our trip to ATL. This was our first stay at a B&B and I must say we are both extremely pleased that we chose The Hoyt House! Deb & Myrta are great women and have awesome personalities! They made us feel welcomed and at home! My boyfriend and I stayed on the Nice Aft- which was awesome!! I HIGHLY recommend that everyone stay on the yacht at least once- Sleeping/sitting out on the yacht was so peaceful, that we are talking about getting our own!! Lol
The Mansion is decorated perfectly! The breakfast was superb! We are even considering the Hoyt House for our wedding venue...

We arranged a family reunion between sisters during a recent road trip in the USA, My sister in-law suggested Hoyt House, Amelia Island. We booked two nights (Mon. & Tues.) and were the only guests there at that time. The house is beautifully maintained and the rooms as comfortable as they are diverse.

Myrta and Debbie were extremely welcoming and helpful hosts. The pool area and garden are very relaxing. The al-a carte breakfast is something not to be missed, as are all the little extras that are included that are to be found everywhere.

Early evening cocktails served by Myrta were a delight, these were taken before a casual stroll into the historic district for supper at one on the many nearby restaurants.
During our stay we made use of the available bicycles to visit the beach, these too are part of the included extras.

The only negative side to our stay was the constant flow of large trucks backwards and forwards, hauling lumber to the local paper mill. Unfortunately the traffic signal is on the one corner alongside Hoyt House, which means if you are a light sleeper this could result in an early morning wake-up

In all our stay at Hoyt House was excellent, Myrta was the perfect host from breakfast to cocktails.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, select a room towards the rear to reduce the traffic noise and if you ha...

My husband and I were so excited for our trip. We have very limited times that we can get away together, and we wanted something very special. Hoyt House was just what we wanted! Myrta greeted us and showed us all the great amenities. She was friendly, but she was also not too pushy which can sometimes happen at B&Bs. In the morning, we were treated to a WONDERFUL breakfast prepared by Deborah. Again, the dining room was perfect whether you wanted to have a couples breakfast or if you wanted to socialize with the rest of the guests. If that wasn't enough, the complimentary cocktail hour every evening was a perfect way to wind down the day and get the night's festivities started. Definitely try one of Deborah's margarita's...phenomenal! Also, take advantage of the private pool and two person hammock. Thanks to Myrta and Deborah for a relaxing and romantic weekend with my hubs. Go and go often!!!

I got ready for my wedding here and we came back after the ceremony for the night. It was wonderful, private, and very intimate. The pool and grounds are beautiful. The best breakfast I've ever eaten. We live here in fernandina and would love to make this B&B a tradition for our anniversary. Completely top notch.

Room Tip: Get one toward the back away from the street - pool view

This was by far the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in so far. Everything was top notch. Breakfast was out of this world - 3 courses. Evening cocktails with the hosts was the topper. They were more like old friends than hosts. Will definatelyu recommend to everyone to stay there- and we will be back.

We recently spent 2 nights at the Hoyt House and I cannot recommend it enough. It was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we got there, there was a sense of calm and relaxation. Myrta was the best hostess one could ever hope for and Debbie’s cooking made me reevaluate my previous stance on breakfast not really being a meal. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The pool area was fabulous and meticulously maintained. The bar room was comfortable and relaxing, making cocktail hour a joy to be looked forward to. And if all of that isn’t enough, the location was perfect. We could walk to the entire historical district (and by walk, I mean easy walk for my pregnant wife in August) including some wonderful restaurants and cute shops. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, make Hoyt House your destination of choice. I know we’ll be back as soon as we can find room in our real lives.
