“Great family hotel”
Reviewed August 14, 2010

We just got back from a week long stay at this hotel. We booked a two bedroom suite that had a king size bed in each room for my husband and two children. It was our first time to stay at a Residence Inn and we all loved it. The staff was very friendly and accessible, and the room was extremely clean when we arrived. There was a free breakfast. A couple of nights there was a very simple, free dinner called a "social" - but hey, it's free dinner! We made use of the free bikes, although if you want something to ride for a longer period of time, your best bet might be to rent a bike from one of the shops down the street. My husband said the fitness center was great. The kids liked the pool, although I found it to be rather small for the number of people who were using it. Most of the time we preferred walking to the beautiful beach - only about .25 miles away. Overall, it was a great place to stay. We will definitely be back!

If you are a family and looking for a nice place near the beach in a great little town, then book the Residence Inn at Fernandina Beach. If you w. ant peace and quiet, then this may not be the best choice. Location is wonderful. Hotel is very nice. Hotel staffer Dru is very nice and quite efficient. The tall male working the desk could be more attentive to guest needs. Hotel reception our first night was nice and unexpected. Good food but a little busy with all the guests arriving at once. Breakfast was quite busy. Too many kids running around (loudly) and in the way. First two nights of stay was quiet but third night new neighbors arrived. Apparently a family had multiple rooms and children came and went 10-15 times per hour and the doors are not that quiet. Oh yeah, hotel lost hot water during our stay. It would have been nice to have had a note under our door. Cold showers are not fun. Neither is waiting 2-3 hours for hot water.

Very clean hotel...quite at night...large pool was kept clean...friendly staff.. the room we chose allowed 3 people, was roomy with 2 but tight for 4. A nice walk to the beach but driving the distance would be better if you are carrying chairs, etc. Breakfast was very good! The staff replenished the food well and made sure all was clean. We will definitely stay again in the future.

My wife and I stayed at the Residence Inn Amelia Island for a weekend getaway on 7/30/10 to 8/01/10. The hotel is located in a nice area within walking distance of the beach and a short drive to shopping, restaraunts, and the historic district. The hotel looks new, is clean, and has a very pleasant feel to it. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Check in was smooth. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which was immaculate and spacious. The room was essentially divided into three areas:

Living/dining/kitchen area: Kitchen included 3/4 size refridgerator and two actual stove burners along with a microwave, sink, and dishwasher. Area included dining room table for two, bar counter by door, desk with wired internet, stylish (but not incredibly comfortable) sleeper sofa, recliner, and 32" lcd tv.

Bathroom: which actually has separate room for toilet and shower/tub. Great sink/mirror, although with all of the doors into/out of the bath, the door to the living room obstructed the sink if opened. Otherwise nice to be able to close the doors and have the separation from the living area.

Master bedroom: lots of down pillows, adequate closet and dresser space. Very nice "headboard" with halogen lights on dimmer switch - very nice to be able to set "romantic" lighting - not a typical option in hotel rooms. Bed was comfy, if a little firm.

Wireless internet was free and worked well.

Breakfast had a nice variety and was fresh (if a little on the bland side): eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, cereal, grits, bagels, etc as well as make your own waffles. Coffee, tea, milk and juice were also available. Unfortunately there weren't any fountain drinks. Breakfast area was a tad cramped the last hour, although we didn't have any problems getting a seat. Overall good but not great. Staff worked hard to keep food available and was pleasant - so no real complaints.

Outside the pool area was clean with a good collection of chairs and best of all, clean towels available (no need to bring towels from your room!). The hot tub was larger than most. There is also a small putting green, outdoor dining tables, and a gas grill!

Overall it was a great stay. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay there again on any future trips back to Amelia Island.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!...As a platinum level guest with Marriott, Starwood, and Hyatt…I travel a lot. Due to a long term assignment in NE Florida; I was very lucky to find this impressive new Residence Inn Amelia Island which I happily lived in for 3 months.

The property has a nice ‘small resort feel’ to it. Which I attribute to the preservation of the unique natural wooded setting and thoughtful design of the exterior and outdoor living spaces. The free form salt water pool and jacuzzi, the covered porch and rocking chairs, outdoor seating and fire pit, all make for a great place to relax outdoors day and night. The hotel also provides free bicycles for guest use to head to the beach, only a few blocks away, or the interesting nature trail and boardwalk that begins at the back of the parking lot.

The rooms are also very impressive. The modern design is very functional and includes a full kitchen with granite counters, stainless appliances and even a dishwasher! Include the great Marriott bed, sharp furnishings and décor, and two 42” LCD TV’s with HD programming, and you too will easily fall in love with this unique hotel.

The other attribute that sets this Residence Inn Amelia Island apart is the dedication of the very friendly and thoughtful staff. Always present to assist in your comfort from the front desk to the great housekeepers! And with daily free full hot breakfast and multiple free dinners weekly you will find that staying at this Amelia Island property offers all the comforts of a expensive resort at a very affordable price.

In fact I feel that Marriott should consider the Residence Inn Amelia Island as a benchmark property and staff, that can illustrate the impressive level of service and value offered by its Residence Inn brand.

I was charged twice for the same stay and front desk staff refused to return my phone calls, gave me the run around, promised to research and call me back but didn't. It's been 2 weeks since my stay and I'm still out $231.99.

Stayed here with my 2 two daughters (age: 15 & 19) for 4 nights. This hotel was so nice, we would definitly be staying at a residence inn again. The locaton was perfect, just a short walk to the beach. The beach was not crowded at all, and the water was wonderful, geat beach to collect shells too. We had lunch one day at the Seaside Grill and I can honestly say that was the best meal we had there, you definitly need to eat there.
