“Definitelt NOT Lanna Thai”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

My husband and I loved Lanna Thai - it was our "go-to" restaurant, and it never disappointed. Not realizing they were under new ownership, we headed over there...and saw the new name. Hopeful that it was only a change in name and not totality (lol), we headed in. Mistake.

We ordered some kind of curry patties that were in a very heavy dough...and then deep fried. If you're into a mouthful of vegetable oil, yum. If not, yuk. Maybe baking would've worked better - ? Also had their take on spring rolls...which were cold (not lukewarm: literally, cold) in the middle. My entree, which was some kind of chicken with string beans was good - except that it was served with what appeared to be a puddle of orange-y oil in the center. My husband got the pad thai...which came out with deep fried pieces of what we think was breaded tofu over the top, which we have never experienced before. And probably won't again, as we won't be going back.

The service didn't redeem the food in any way...our plates were practically full when we asked for the check and no one asked if something were wrong or if we wanted it wrapped...it was like they KNEW.

**Sigh.** We'll miss you, Lanna Thai.

“Excellent Thai food”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

We had an excellent meal here while visiting Amelia Island. The appetizers and salads were extremely fresh with delicious flavours. Ginger duck was crispy and loaded with fresh vegetables in a flavourful sauce. Pad Thai was an extremely generous serving with an abundance of large fresh shrimp. We eat Thai food often and found this to be some of the best, staff were extremely friendly and the restaurant is very well priced.

“not the best thai”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

The menu looked great but the food was less than I'm used to. We are very fussy Thai eaters so if you are used to top end thai this is not the place to go

“Coconut Soup is EXCELLENT!”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

We'd been craving Thai food and Lanna Thai came recommended. We had high hopes for some delicious curry. The meal started out well. The atmosphere was great, we were seated in a booth by the window. The wine list was reasonably priced. We had a mediocre bottle of Chardonnay, but at least it was inexpensive. The coconut soup was the star of the meal. We shared a bowl and raved to each other about how delicious it was - among the best we'd ever had. This set our expectations even higher for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. I had the green curry with shrimp. I love eggplant, so imagine my disappointment to find that it was undercooked. The green beans were over-abundant and very crunchy as well. The shrimp were good, but still had the tails on so they were a little difficult to eat. The sauce was very soupy and didn't hold up to the rice. My dining companion had the Panang Curry with chicken. The consistency was better and he was happy with the amount of spice, but was overwhelmed by the amount of zucchini in the dish. The presentation was beautiful. Each of our dishes was served in a little metal bowl over a candle and the rice was in a star shape. We could have used a little more rice. Our conclusion? Not worth the drive across the bridge, unless we are craving coconut soup.

Food superb, service great, and everything always presented perfectly. If you enjoy good Thai food Lanna will not disappoint. Moderate prices but well worth it.
