“A wonderful, welcoming, comfortable home away from home.”
Reviewed July 10, 2009

We loved the Williams house and Amelia Island/Fernandina. The home is beautifully kept, and the hosts are friendly and attentive. Breakfast was always delicious. It is very close to downtown Fernandina with shopping, restaurants and such. A truly enjoyable mini vacation!

My husband and I took a weekend vacation for the 4th of July. We heard that Amelia Island and the Amelia William House were a perfect match for a romantic getaway and it certainly was. The house was beautiful and nicely furnished. Our room, Santa Maria, was a victorian style room with a share balcony. The bathroom was large and included a clawfoot tub and separate shower. Our only gripe was that the shower floor could have been a lot cleaner...the floor was moldy and slimy (however, in defense of the innkeepers, we never addressed it with them).

Breakfast was served each morning between 8AM and 10AM. Although the breakfast was good, it would have been better to have a choice of two items ( or at least a fruit alternative).

Byron and Deborah are very NICE people, down to earth and very knowledgeable about the area.

All guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and bathroom facilities sterilized after each departure per a checklist of cleaning activities. Each housekeeper initials room cleaning records after which we the innkeepers check to insure all requirements have been satisfied. In this room there are noticeable wear stains from excessive cleaning and strong disenfectants on the fiberglass shower floor where the fiberglass is etched for fall prevention. There is neither mold or slime in our bathrooms. We regret that the guests did not address their concerns with us. We would have made every effort to reassure them that our standards are high and that we work very hard to ensure that every guest leave satisfied and that there time with us is of value. We are also amicable to assisting guests who have special dietary requests . We have a fixed breakfast menu but if we know in advance can prepare a special breakfast for our guests.

My husband and I stayed in Catherine's Chamber. This room was amazing! I believe it has the largest and impressive bathrooms at the Inn (or any of the Inns that we toured). Soaking in the tub, looking up at the chandelier and enjoying a glass of wine I had no excuse, but to feel pampered. Our stay was very relaxing and a great get-away for just a few days. We enjoyed the Bed and Breakfast Garden Tea tour and hope that we can make it back for the Cookie tour in the fall. The Inn and our room was one of the nicest on the tour. Deborah and Byron were very friendly and inviting. For breakfast we were even served dessert! Any day that starts off with dessert is going to be a good one. It was a real treat for us and we have told all our family and friends about how wonderful our stay was. If others get a chance I would recommend going to the pier and watching the sun set and then driving to the beach (10 minutes away) and watching the moon rise. This was a lovely trip and we can't wait to do it again! Thank you both for a wonderful stay. -Jennifer and Joe Estaling

This was our first visit to Amelia Island and we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Our room was really nice and the jacuzzi tub was quite a treat. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings and the wine and cheese in the evenings. We'll be back.

Wonderful breakfasts (with dessert!). Nice location for accessing either the historic district (walking distance) or the beach (short drive).

We stayed one night at the Williams House on Amelia Island and it was quite perfect. We had a warm welcome from Byron who showed us to our beautiful room the Santa Maria which was in a side building with a lovely porch outside our room overlooking the quiet street and the most beautiful live oak tree covered in Spanish moss. Our room was very clean, extremely nicely appointed and very comfortable. Byron and Deborah have really paid attention to the little details, there was bottled water in our room, chocolate chip cookies, coffee available in the morning in the hall, beach towels, plush robes, even Q-tips in the bath and the list goes on. Our breakfast was delicious and extravagant as well, you certainly will not go hungry here! The Inn was located just off the quaint little main street (I think it is Centre Street) in Amelia Island and within walking distance of lots of cute shops and restaurants. The beach nearby is absolutely gorgeous too. Certainly the Williams House is a great place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Williams House on Amelia Island. The house is charming and filled with beautiful antiques. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The innkeepers are great and provide everything you need including bicycles to ride and all the beach necessities! The verandas are wonderful and filled with wicker furniture, a swing, and lots of shade! This was a very romantic and relaxing stay for us both. We will definitely visit again.
