“Best B&B We have ever Experienced!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

My husband surprised me with a trip to Amelia Island during my nursing school spring break for Christmas. He told me that he tried to get a room at the Ritz Carlton for the following week but they were booked due to a car show. So instead he picked The Addison. I was a little bummed because we have stayed at B&B's in St. Augustine and I would say that they were average but definitely nothing like the reputation of the Ritz. Well, the Addison BLEW ME AWAY! Besides being historical, adorable, and very clean the owners Bob, Shannon, and their daughter Lee's hospitality was top notch and met all of our requests during our stay. We had room number 3 in the main house. My husband picked it because of the over sized porch. Unfortunately, it was so cold that weekend we never went out there. Luckily there was a one touch timed gas fireplace in our room, which was a great surprise, that we used all weekend! The king size bed and pillows gave us such a cozy, relaxing, and comfortable sleep. We snuggled every night in that big bed while watching a movie that they provided. I stuffed myself every morning with their wonderful, amazing, gourmet breakfast and fresh squeezed orange juice. I was very impressed that I only told them once upon check in that I was a vegetarian and the 3 breakfasts' we had they remembered every time! That has never happened before. We went to every happy hour and enjoyed beer, wine, and snacks while meeting the other guests and hearing their travel adventure stories. Bob was very educational about the island and had great recommendations. We went biking along the beach one day hoping to see the Ritz. It is so far down on the beach that it almost feels isolated. I was beyond happy that our accommodations turned out the way they did because I was so impressed with The Addison! The owners set up all our dinner reservations plus a horse and carriage ride with the prettiest horse. They provided us with a bag of carrots for us to feed the horse and napkins to wash our hands! The location of The Addison is perfect! Right in the heart of the historical downtown and walking distance to the restaurants, shops, and night life. My parents have never experienced a B&B and I called them the day we left and said we are taking you to The Addison! We absolutely loved our time there and will not pick another place to stay when we come back!

We recently relocated to the east coast and consider The Addison as nice as any B&B we experienced in Napa, Pacific Grove California, Ashland Oregon or Port Townsend Washington. We have found that what makes any B&B exceptional is the hosts. Bob and Shannon are a lot of fun especially having wine in the afternoon. Amelia Island has a great variety of things to do from the beach, to the fort, to dining and local live theatre.

We spent the weekend at Addison on Amelia and loved every moment of our stay. We stayed in room 15, very clean and modern with a beautiful bathroom. We didn't mind that it had a shared balcony. It was a beautiful comfortable room. Breakfast was first rate. On the first day we have a baked blackberry custard with Belgium waffles and fresh OJ. On the second day we had a fresh baked muffin, fruit bowl and egg sandwich panini. All was delicious. It is very centrally located and very easy to walk to local shops and restaurants. The hosts are lovely, very accommodating without ever feeling in your face. They host a cocktail hour every day at 5pm in the main room, we were skeptical to hang out with strangers but l it was a fun time to talk to people from all over the country and talk about where we were all going for dinner. Hands down this is the best B&B on Amelia island and possibly the east coast

My wife and her out of town friend decided to treat themselves to a visit to the Addison. As always, the expectations were high and were met. The room was great, the afternoon snacks and morning breakfast were tasty. It was fun to meet other guests at the afternoon wine/snack event.
This Inn is one of the best in Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island. A bit pricey, but due to consistency, quality, and personal touch of the Innkeepers, it is a value. Definitely our favorite!
Keep up the great work!

Room Tip: After several visits, we have yet to find a room with a bad orientation. All seem to be quiet and t...

A lovely, quiet spot in North Florida. Very close to the shops of FB, but an oasis of calm. I do not hesitate to recommend this spot. The breakfasts were outstanding, and the hosts were very genuine. We used the cruiser bikes and they took us all over the island (and beyond).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Addison. The inn is beautiful, and our room was gorgeous and comfortable. We loved the location and enjoyed walking around the historic area of Fernandina Beach and visiting a few of the excellent neighbourhood restaurants. The breakfasts were divine, and Bob and Shannon's hospitality is unparalleled. Can't wait to return!

Decided to stay at the Addison for a birthday getaway and considering all the reviews I read, I went in with very high expectations. The Addison did not disappoint. It met those high expectations and more. We stayed on room 7 which was spacious and beautiful. The inn is immaculate and Bob is quite the inn keeper. The location is perfect, within walking distance of great restaurants and shops. Do make time to enjoy the happy hour while you're there as that was a nice time to meet other guests and share information about good restaurants and things to do.

I am already thinking about my next visit to The Addison!
