“A fantastic weekend getaway”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

We stayed at the Addison this november. The innkeepers are extremely friendly and make you feel right at home. Fresh and delicious breakfast is served each morning with a casual happy hour every day for appetizers and drinks. The house is beautiful and very clean. I would highly recommend this B&B for anyone who chooses to visit Amelia Island!

The personalized experience and attention to detail made this one of the best getaways we have ever had. Thank you so much to the whole staff who are kind, generous and friendly. We can't wait for an excuse to go again! We were particularly taken with the excursions that they planned in advance for us and the amazing food. Have no doubts about booking here, you will be well taken care of and the luxurious rooms are a joy to spend time in if you want a break from all the fun the island offers.

We went to the 'Sunshine State' for a couple of days whilst staying with family in South Carolina. Unfortunately, the weather was dull and chilly. However, our two night stay at Addison's made all the difference. From the moment we arrived and meeting our hosts, Bob & Shannon, we felt really at home. We had one of the smaller rooms (#15), which was very well appointed with lovely touches. The bed was comfortable and the large and glorious shower heavenly.

Within a short time we were meeting other guests at Happy Hour and getting their experience of places to eat and visit on delightful Amelia Island. Bob served delicious wines and we snacked on Shannon's tasties. The other guests we met really helped us get the feel of the house and the locality. Due to poor weather we were unable to take the boat trip to Cumberland Island (highly recommended) but we did take the Trolley Tour which was not only informative but extremely enjoyable due to our guide Michael.

On the first evening we ate at Espana and the next at Le Clos. Both worth a visit. Highly recommended is Salty Pelican (near harbour) for a brilliant burger and chips (fries if not English).

Breakfast at Addison's is a real treat as Shannon provided real top quality American cuisine. Nothing seemed to be to much trouble for our hosts which is extremely comforting when you are new to town.

We certainly hope to return and have no reservations in recommending Addison's to anybody wanting that extra special touch when staying away on vacation. We just hope next time to be able to experience warmer weather and then to fully enjoy the wonderful courtyard and accommodation available.

We also hope that next time we are more adept at our TV training which, despite our hosts continued efforts, we failed to overcome our failings.

All in all Addison's is a must stay place and well worthy of its high ranking. Thanks Bob & Shannon for a great stay.

The inn is inviting, warm, clean & delightful. We chose to have our wedding at the Addison & could not have been more pleased. Bob is hilarious; Shannon's food is great. The hospitality is amazing. The location is very convenient - only a few blocks to downtown. The breakfast they provide is outstanding - 2 course meal daily with fresh squeezed orange juice. The weather wasn't great while we were there so next time we visit we plan to take advantage of all the verandas & courtyard. Overall an excellent choice - we will be back!

This is a lovely B & B run by a couple with a love of what they do. The room was very inviting and well equipped. Breakfasts were extraordinary and varied. The location is ideal, a block off the main street through the historic district and easy walking distance. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Location, location location; yes that is indeed true. but that is merely a given where The Addison on Amelia is concerned. Absolutely beautiful is its restoration; spacious rooms (Room Three is worthy to be sure), what a front porch! The is the bed and breakfast of bed and breakfasts, in our opinion. Wonderful food for both days at our breakfasts; but then our Innkeepers, Shannon and Bob (along with their dog, Maggie), invite the guests, daily, to a happy hour, "on them," allowing all of us to meet, and learn of one another, Chris and Jenny from rural England along with Steve his wife (sorry) from Saskatchewan; terrifically interesting and entertaining people; have a white or red wine; and excellent draft beer (or two) and a lovely, homemade snack. We were there mid-week just before the Georgia/Florida game played in Jacksonville. The quaint city of Fernandina Beach was "packed." The restaurant we wanted, Bob worked his magic and then reservations we had. We intend to return. If any of you are traveling near the Amelia Island area, treat yourself to relaxation at The Addison on Amelia Island.

Room Tip: if you are a romantic, select Room 3; a front porch (2nd floor) the width of the home; two wicker ro...

Despite our room (no. 15) being one of the smaller rooms, it was well equipped and very comfortable. Very efficient large shower.
Extremely convenient location and easily walkable to the restaurants in town, but on a nice quiet street.
Bob was most welcoming and kindly printed out our boarding passes for our flight after our stay.
Breakfast was excellent, served between 8.30 and 10.00 giving plenty of time for a leisurely rise but with coffee available earlier if needs be.
Gold star for continuous refills of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Would definitely stay there again.
